Because that's already addressed in Florida law. Some sicko found a loophole, pissed off a bunch of parents by trying to groom a minor without the parents' knowledge, and this bill is the result. You guys have gotten so used to easy ground that you think any pushback is clutch-the-pearls time.

Cannot "encourage" any conversation related to "sexual oreintation".

Which is immediately followed by the parent's right to sue, which essentially puts the definition of encourage up to the parent's discretion. Anything can possibly "encourage classroom discussion. A gay male teacher's voice *alone* could encourage that if he sounds gay. What about a normal, casual reference to a husband or wife. This bill was intentionally written to be vague in order to discriminated against gay people, not to protect children in any sort of way. If children were the concern, the bill's language would be about explicit and sexually innaporaite themes, not just general gayness, but that was literally rejected by the Bill's sponsor (who loudly hates gay people) for "gutting the intent".

I would Be fine with the a curriculum on how to explain gay.

I would agree with you discussing actual sex with young kids is inappropriate.

But this bull is extremely vague and it opens teachers and schools up to private lawsuits. Thats going to have what’s called a chilling effect.
