Well, unless you have a better option, they’ll be the ones investigating and apparently they have been investigating him since before he bailed. I’m not saying he’s guilty or not guilty but if that timeline is true, it would certainly be strange to launch a smear campaign on a guy before he actually does something you’d need to smear him for.

I've known two guys that I worked with that got classified violations. Now it wasnt leaking info to someone without classification but they continued to work there while the investigation was happening. They were not allowed in certain areas and couldn't handle or posses classified but they stayed employed.
