Hopefully it's a sign of good things to come.

Merge the agencies while drastically reducing the headcount.

Need to roll DHS into this ball too.

ATF should be the very first agency eliminated.

I also have the option now of moving to a state that uses the buyer's conceal carry permit rather than the federal background check. I think there are 8 states currently doing it. An option I may check more into.

But yes
ATF needs to be burned to the ground.

Why do you think Kash is over both?

DHS was only founded to spy on people, following the 911 attacks.
Get rid of them.

Georgia is one of those states and I have been advised to go through that process, but Georgia also has Constitutional Carry now, so why register myself through that system too?

The whole damn process is unconstitutional and should just be eliminated.

It’s a pretty redundant agency on the firearms side and we don’t need major regulation of alcohol and tobacco anymore. Be best to scrap it

This. Take your best explosive and firearm trafficking experts from ATF and lay off the rest, then fold those elite people and units into the FBI (which would also be massively shrunk and reorganized by that time).

There is no need for the two to exist separately anymore. Secret Service duties that involve anything other than protecting the top individuals within our government also need to be moved to this new FBI/ATF combination agency, and the SS agents that are elite at counterfit detection and takedown need to be moved over - while the rest are trimmed there too.

Secret Service, FBI, and ATF have several overlapping duties that could easily be rolled into one agency. Secret Service should only exist to physically protect the VIPs, FBI can handle threats against those VIPs and counterfit money operations.

ATF is actually a very very lowercase a and T, a LARGE capital F and then a somewhat small silent e on the end.

ATF does virtually no alcohol or Tabasco cases, focus mainly on 922(g) charges which is federal felon in possession. These cases are 99.9% adoptions from local agency traffic stops and requires minimal work from agents. ATF agents will also attempt to conduct drug cases because “people who deal drugs also have guns” which should be eliminated and their mission redefined.

ATF was also founded as a regulatory component, not a federal LE arm. Glad AG reassigned the 5 atf folks who were working on alcohol and Tabasco violations to other more critical aspects. At fletc, atf doesn’t even touch on alcohol training and does a small training block on Tobacco enforcement.

ATF makes internal policies regarding some firearm attachments and attempts to threaten citizens with that. Also, fbi does BICS checks, which is what is done when you’re at academy and attempt to purchase a gun, not atf. Additionally, years ago, congress made fbi the bomb tech certifying agency which is why any certified bomb tech in the United States goes thru FBI hazardous devices school in Huntsville, including atf bomb techs. ATF runs an “internal” bomb tech school, but they do not learn how to render safe and are not fully certified.

Agreed! The second amendment spells is out loud and clear!

To be honest, IMO, a carry permit helps you out if you end up in court. As showing that a person has taken on a level of responsibility, and if required by their state, training.

Maybe ATF will become a convenience store in FL after all.

Good! Maybe it won't take so long to get background checks done now.

They need to do away with checks for getting full automatic, suppressors, short barreled rifles and shotguns. But if you use one in a crime then automatic death sentence. Would eventually work itself out.

One simple law could eliminate the need for the ATF.

If you aren't allowed to have a gun, but you get caught with one during the commission of any crime, it's an automatic 20 years.

The system now puts all the responsibility on the seller or a government agency, that's horse shite. If you aren't supposed to have a gun for whatever court-ordered reason, and you get caught with it, that's on them. We want Academy Sports and a gov agency to be responsible when it's really the criminal who should be accountable for any crimes he commits.

So the issue with removing secret service investigative role I believe would cause an OPM issue. Agents job code is a 1811 criminal investigator. This position provides for a 25% law enforcement availability pay (leap) where you get an extra 25% of your pay to cover OT. Secret service is a rare federal agency where agents can actually get OT, especially election years.

By removing investigative functions, I believe USSS would no longer qualify for this pay and would be unable to retain or recruit folks.

Side note- I also 100% agree with Bongino that the white collar side of USSS is protected by management to ensure agents have retirement gigs at financial institutions.

Eta - also- if you’re combining atf and usss to fbi, what about DEA?

As usual, 47 is playing chess, everyone else checkers. Absolutely makes sense to put the ATF as part of the FBI. Less bureaucracy, more effective, better communication and quicker sharing of information.

ATF needs ABOLISHMENT!

Everything in that arena should and could fall under a well run FBI!

As crazy as it sounds with all the corruption, the ATF may be the most corrupt of them all when it comes to “DARK BLACK OPS”

It’s been known that the ATF has acted as “CLEANERS” for the DEEP STATE.

The guy that was high level in the DNC, that got “robbed.& killed in DC by 2 guys in a white van that didn’t take his wallet, his money nor his ROLEX” after he TURNED AGAINST KILLARY & came clean with the JUMP DRIVE that had tons of evidence against the DS & KILLARY.

There was evidence that was wiped from the internet that the “ATF” was in charge of making the “HIT”

So they used 2 x MS-13 gang members to handle it.

Then the same exact 2 guys were gunned down in a parking lot in South Carolina not long after.

They ordered it
Handled it
Cleaned it up with no witnesses

THE ATF SHOULD BE ABOLISHED!

Alcohol is Legal
Guns are our God given right!
And WTF are they investigating regarding “Tobacco”????

ABOLISH IT & INVESTIGATE THE CRAP OUT OF IT!

It’s the “DEEP STATES CLEANERS” and corrupt by nature.

They are dealing with the cartels and gangs and drug world, and they have been compromised to the fullest!

Time to abolish
