Did you have the same beliefs at 15 that you do now?

My kid would have figured something out if they walked out during this cynical opportunistic adult driven shite

My kid would have figured out they are still a child. It would discover that none of their Electronics were accessible along with a few other things

And when they inevitably whined about it I would point out that the walkout couldn't have been too important to them if it wasn't worth losing their Electronics over

I let their little brains ruminate on that for a minute

Absolutely. Were you swayed somewhere along the line?

I'm 37 now

I'm glad my views on some things have changed

If you're still as dumb as you were when you were 15 you might want to try to hide that fact from the rest of the world

Why are parents judged by what our kids did today/yesterday? They are subject to peer pressure. They are subject to misinformation. They are subject to inexperience. The fact remains they will have make their own decisions. Now why should I get worried by a momentary lapse in judgment or judge myself based on this one act?

If the act went unpunished then you deserve to be judged. If the kid has a lapse in judgement and does something stupid then it's on them, once the parent doesn't correct that behavior with an arse whipping or taking some privellages away then it's on the parent.

Speaking of walking out...

As I made my son walk out to get the garbage cans, I also asked him to check the mail. Imagine my surprise when he brought in a Bass Pro Shop catalogue/flyer... with guns. A couple were clearly of the assault-looking variety, in that they had pistol grip buttstocks. And... there was one on the very front page. How dare they. How could they be so insensitive as to send out that catalogue on this very socially important day?

They said the rosary for the kids that died in Florida.

Within reason of course parents are measured by how their children turn out and behave. I mean it's not a zero defect game. Children will make mistakes. But how they turn out generally most certainly is related to the parents and there's a difference between situational mistakes and thought out mistakes.

My kid is in a New Orleans Catholic High school, well pk-12 but she is in high school.

The lower and middle school went outside and prayed for 17 minutes which is completely appropriate but they shuffled the HS'ers into the auditorium and after a prayer went into a presentation about the gun violence crisis in the United States, It appeared to be a one sided presentation instead of both sides of the argument. I do not like when they do that anymore than what other, especially public schools, are doing with the left agenda.

We were not informed of how the High School was going to handle yesterday morning.

It's called "parenting". They should be teaching their
kids that actions have consequences and to choose
their "peers" carefully. Todays lesson..." if you sleep
with dogs, you're gonna have fleas".

Just curious...why do you assume that those of us who are "pro-gun rights" are also "pro-gun violence?" I won't speak for others but I'm pro-gun in a large part BECAUSE of gun-violence.

Right. It's stupid to think that your child goes to school to get an education, not to become a social justice billboard.
