The timing seems convenient. China doesn't like a lot of press asking questions and Trump pissing off the press takes that matter off the table.
I suspect Trump will allow the offending news sources back in right after Xi leaves.

It would be funny if Trump planned the banning of CNN, MSNOW and Politico knowing the MSM would freak out and boycott the visit by Xi.
That way Trump wouldn't have to deal with a-holes like the female reporter who deliberately chose to ask Trump questions about the ban in front of Xi this morning.
That female reporter should be banned from the White House for doing that!

Every press clip i have seen is another scenario where Trump is falling over himself to tell Xi how much respect he has for him.
