Africans invented slavery then sold their family members into it. Yet our media acts like only Americans participated in it.

Now you are bringing up that pesky history thing again. When you don't learn it you will repeat it.

I love all these black folks who haven't bothered to watch the first 10 mins of Roots.

Did the American ideals of individual liberty and personal freedom exist prior to the American revolution?

If you'd like your ethical/moral bar set to be 1600s Africa, then that's on you. I have higher standards.

I've actually heard this reply, straight from the horse-face's mouth.

You see, white people practiced "chattel slavery" which is the worstest, mostest evil of the slavery. That's what they tell stupid people, who fail to look up the term and realize that it basically applies to most forms of slavery. Ergo, we're evil-er.

So that's it. "Chattel slavery."

There’s a good reason Alex Haley started the story “Roots” with Kunta Kinte. He knew all to well of the historical brutal savagery of slavery within Africa. It’s almost akin to people starting the story of the civil war with the emancipation proclamation.

There is nothing more human then slavery. As far back as recorded history, one people have enslaved another people.

This means that there are a fair number of black Americans who are descended from slave owners and slave traders but not from slaves.

This.

A question was asked, and factual answers were given. I highly doubt anyone is advocating slavery. Historically speaking we are living in a time where our current views on slavery are very contradictory to views that have been held for thousands of years. That pretty much makes our time one of the most free times in recorded human history.

History has also show moral standards to be an incredibly fluid and subjective concept.

I would guess Roman slavery was probably the most brutal. We didn’t force slaves to fight each other to the death, or fight exotic animals to the death for entertainment on a mass scale.

I agree. Thus, I don't understand the point of the OP.

That's an interesting argument.

Where's the anger towards the ancestry history of the African hierarchy that was selling slaves back then and some countries that still practice forms of slavery to this day?

Where is the anger towards Spain's atrocities in Central and South America as well as Mexico. US slavery pales in comparison (no pun intended).
