Defend one reason why this person should approach a car with an AK during a protest?

Why even bring an AK to a "peaceful" protest?

His logic was they were not allowed to march in the street.

Darwin did the rest.

I still don’t follow how that makes his firearm necessary?

Apparently the courts must believe this to be true too, because he wasn't charged with anything.

How do you explain that, exactly?
Courts do not charge people, and competent DAs do not, either, until they have completed their investigation.

All indications, of course, are that this investigation should likely not result in charges against the driver. The next week or so will answer that question.

Did he have less a right to carry a weapon than these folks?

Granted, he played a stupid game and won a stupid prize, but that is an entirely different question than the one you asked.

no one questioned his rights to carry, people questioned his motives to do so and WHY HE APPROACHED A VEHICLE WITH IT IN THE READY.

To add to that, why are you making yourself a potential threat when you are the caretaker of someone who is disabled? I can understand conceal carry but just idiotic to make yourself the obvious threat if shite hits the fan.

Depending on the rules of the states, any of them may have had the right and be able to legally open carry. Regardless, I wouldn't recommend anyone to open carry, regardless of the situation, but especially not in a public event where there's no security for your weapon.

He had just as much of a right as long as local laws allowed it.

It was not the lawful carrying that got him shot.

It was the UNLAWFUL BRANDISHING that got his DUMBASS SHOT.

The AK fruitcake wasn't thinking at all. At no point did he expect to be met by someone that would pull the trigger.

Darwin would have taken him out no matter what.
