As a child, raised by a father and mother, his mother's daycare business went under. So...the family lost their house to foreclosure. Imagine your dad is completely dependent on your mom's daycare business to keep the house payments coming.
ETA: he managed a restaurant in college. He openly could not handle doing both at the same time, so he quit college, and....got fired from the restaurant job
