Very definitive.

DeSantis is every bit as smart as we on this Board suspect. This Nation will be on fire in '24, why would any aspiring rational individual/politico want that in their lap? The Fascist Dems are NOT going to go quietly, they will gas light their street minions just like they did last time. DeSantis will let Trump handle the bloodletting and then step in clean. Well, "clean" but for those who manifest the feelings in the above post.

It does concern me that the suburban wine mom vote will swing back to the Dems if it’s Trump versus Gav. Hell even DeSantis versus Gav will likely swing the suburban wine mom vote. It’s a very soft demo and easy to manipulate with looks and emotion.

If Trump wins in 2024, do you realize what mountains the DEMs will move to win in 2028? It will be 2020 on steroids.

Y'all couldn't win in 2020. Why do you think you can change things in 2028?

The elections won't be rigged according to their logic.

He doesn’t deserve shite.

He had the bully pulpit of the presidency a hand picked attorney general, plenty of money, and knowledge of exactly what they were going to do before the election and still couldn’t do anything to stop it.

Conservatives owe him nothing and he deserves nothing.

It makes 0 sense for DeSantis to run in 2024. He is going to cruise to reelection in Florida, and in the next 2 years, continue to increase his national profile, name recognition, and bona fides with conservatives/MAGA folks. His term ends at the midterms in 2026, which will be right when everyone is starting to declare intentions for 2028, and it gives him two years to both support President Trump in the background, while also running for the presidency. He gets the additional minor political benefit of saying, "See, I'm not politically motivated, I served out my term as governor in Florida and I'm doing this to continue President Trump's MAGA legacy."

Exactly how I see it.

The issue has always been that this has a very high chance of closing the door on RDS as a national political candidate.

I don’t accept your premise. Trump and Desantis are on the same team. He isn’t going to run because it would divide the party.

Of the others you listed below, only Ted Cruz and Rand Paul would even have a small chance to win, but neither of them are half the candidate that Trump or Desantis are.

No, I do not.

Can you please give me ANY current Dem that would have a shot at winning a national election in 2024 or 2028?

Of course someone new can emerge in the next 2 to 4 years, but right now... give me a Dem with a national profile that appeals to any undecided voters.

As meaningful as a coach telling his team he has no interest in coaching anywhere else.

Until after the season is over.

Then watch what happens.

That's a post-election thread I was thinking about.

With all of this "Covid Amnesty" stuff, and a likely GOP win (and all the investigations that may happen), has any national politician raised their profile like Rand Paul? He was the shining light of Congress during CV and has largely been proven right.
