DeSantis responded to Trump's post about his name. I transcribed it below:

quote:

"I think it's so petty. I think it's so juvenile. I don't think that's what voters want. Honestly, I think his conduct, that's one of the reasons he's not in the White House now because I think he alienated too many voters for things that really don't matter. So I don't get in the gutter on any of that. We do have substantive differences, I think President Trump did a lot of great things and I still give him credit for that. But he's attacking me on policy where we have a disagreement, but I'm the one who is in the right. For example, he's saying that Governor Andrew Cuomo in New York handled COVID better than Florida did under my leadership. Yet, people fled Cuomo and those lockdowns to come to Florida. Florida boomed as a result of being one of that nation's freedom zones. We fought Trump's own administration to make sure our kids could be in school and our businesses could be open. He's attacking me siding with Andrew Cuomo and is attacking me for opposing an Immigration Amnesty Bill that he tried to push through. It was a 2 million amnesty for illegal aliens. He ran in 2016 saying he would oppose amnesty for illegal aliens and then in 2018 he tried to ram it through."

Neither candidate should be talking about Covid. They both did some awful things. I agree with him that Trump is being petty.

Everyone made mistakes, its who learned from them and how quickly.

Desantis did great with Covid, overall. Better than most and certainly better than Trump. This was universally accepted until about 6 months ago.

Neither were perfect, but DeSantis did close to the best, if not the best, among all governors. Whereas Trump let hysterical, agenda-driven liberals in Fauci and the CDC set the narratives and course for the country.

Kinda semi.

You realize I don't actually give a shite about any politician, including Ron Desantis right?

I just want to beat Joe Biden and win an election.

Trump was on a radio show yesterday saying he wasn’t allowed to fire Fauci

I like both of these guys, but DeSantis is right. Trump really is alienating a lot of potential voters with his unnecessary antics. He did it in 2020 although I do think there was some frickery going on either way

DeSantis consistently ordered CDC guidelines be followed in his EOs. He required 14 days of quarantine to people traveling from New York, New Jersey, and Louisiana. He shut down bars. He did some pretty bad stuff too.

Shutting down our entire economy for a year is the biggest thing to happen to the US since maybe WW2. It absolutely needs to be talked about

He followed CDC guidelines for like a month and then changed course, and got routinely criticized for it by Trump and others. He was dubbed "Deathsantis" like a month in.

It is petty.

But it's also true that Desantis did in fact change the pronunciation of his own last name in his 40s.

That's bizarre. Has anyone on this board done that? Anyone?

That seems a little petty also.

The evidence can easily be found on YouTube.

But again, it's dumb for Trump to spend time on it. But it is true.

Trump never gave that order. DeSantis only shut down Florida for a short time. You must be talking about the dem governors, right?

Are you serious? Trump isn't even Trump's last name! Remember how cringey it was when Leftists used to call him Drumpf? Hell even they caught on to how stupid that looked. Yet here we are.

Some. He specifically mirrored the CDC rules on evictions in September 2020.

If he stays above the fray and out of the mud, he will do well in the primaries. He just needs to have a robust GOTV organization.

Exactly! That crap was crazy on day one. I think people forget that. It was all about how people adjusted as things became clearer.
