What’s he going to attack DeSantis on? That if he didn’t endorse him that he wouldn’t be governor? That’s the only one I can come up with.

You laugh, and I'm not surprised at your RINO arse. But I remember 17 GOP heavyweights bowing out one by one when Trump ran the first time.

You and your kind are dumb as frick.

It’s very telling who the never trumpers are. Holding on to anything that says no Trump in 2024. Trump supposedly lost to Pedo Joe but the left is still concerned about Trump.
Your username should be cluelessjoe.
The conservatives who support either candidate should vote for the winner of the primary in the general election, regardless of which one it is.
The dims are trying to make the Republican primary a blood-bath so that the losing side WON'T even vote in the general election, and many conservatives seem to want to oblige them!

It doesn't matter. If Trump throws blows and DeSantis responds in kind and roughs Trump up, Trump people will never forgive him.

It's not a meritocracy thing, it's a loyalty thing.

Because those on this board of rational mind know and understand that Donald Trump simply isn't electable. And they also know that Trump is too old to change and utterly incapable of learning from past mistakes.

His character is so deeply flawed that he'll destroy the entire conservative movement before he allows Ron Desantis show him up.

How do people not see this?

Because it's something not there.

If Ron were to run, you expect Trump to just not? LOL

What a twisted mentality. Let me guess. "Trump... please don't go after Ron"

Is that the world you live in? Name any time in USA History where candidates did not lay it out on the line to show the public who is for what?

Lets just see where things stand after the Jan 6 waste-of-time, and the Midterms.

The whole Jan6 debacle is the big shot the Uniparty has been building for two years to block Trump. We all know the Repub party is playing along with it. The party will try to shift to embrace the results "for the good of the country".

But - if the majority of voters in the party aren't sold, OR IT BACKFIRES, the party takeover by America First will be complete, and solidified. Then it is game-on to take on the swamp.

I just don’t see what’s so crazy about taking the position if there is a primary battle between the two, conservatives should rally around whoever the winner is. The other outcome is simply not acceptable.

Being a productive member of our society is a prerequisite for me caring about someone's take on conservative politics. Sorry not sorry.

It's a real risk. There is zero chance of an semi-amicable primary battle. The only outcome would be Trump winning or Ron winning with a bunch of Trump supporters claiming they'll stay home to punish DeSantis. Whether they would is a different matter, but the rhetoric would be a guarantee.

I can assure you of a few things Petty...

- DeSantis continue to embrace Pence would be a death blow to him winning in the Primary. It would take a coalition of KNOWN RINOs at that point to help him

- If by chance he did win the primary, he will lose the General. Because of it.

Not really. I think it's too early to really break this down, but I highly suspect Ron's support will come from a combination of uneasy GOPe types, Trump supporters who want new blood and the most ardent and substantive conservative types.

I think Trump will continue to dominate on those who value hostile rhetoric, but I do think DeSantis will pick up some of that crowd too.

And being able to see the forest through the trees is a prerequisite of mine.

Trump earned a suppressed 75,000,000 votes in 2020. If your dumb arse thinks that anyone is going to challenge that, you're not worth serious consideration. You're an idiot.

Last I checked Trump was like 100-2 in his endorsements so far this cycle.

Anyone trying to downplay his influence over the Republican party is a fricking fool. And right now that's you. You're a goddamn idiot.

I don't think DeSantis needs Pence, nor do I think the "embrace" of Pence is something observed/believed by even 1% of the public. And that doesn't mean I'm denying your take on it, but even if you're right, nobody knows about it and even fewer will care.

But sure, DeSantis shouldn't really tie himself to any old guard figures, he represents a completely new style of conservative politician (at least of late).

Well perhaps you can take some of that wisdom and sense and get off the dole.
