Well, your mistake is that you’re not thinking of the people who I’m referring to, the ones relevant to the line of discussion we’re engaged in at this moment. Those would be “Trump’s base,” which whether or not one chooses to acknowledge it, that’s a significant cross section of the right…..it’s a number of people significant enough to make or break a Republican primary run.

The people who make up that “base” are much more aware of things like this than are the other random, less engaged individuals on “the right.” Which we are indeed talking about “the right,” as the context of my original post is obvious in its reference to the Republican primary.

So yes, amongst the relevant and consequential cross section of Republican primary voters, i.e. “Trump’s base,” it was a huge blunder because not only did it taint that significant number’s perception of Desantis for this election, it will also extend to any future effort to run as well…..particularly the Republican primary aspect.

You’re convincing yourself that people pay attention to the day-to-day vagaries of a primary in the year before an election year. I trust you will succeed so that you might sleep peacefully.

DJ actually has a love-hate relationship with Trump. It’s weighted towards hate, but still technically labeled love-hate nonetheless. There are many more wise thoughts in there than your typical Desantis loyalist.

I don’t hate Trump at all. I just think he did a shitty job in 2020, and because of that we should be looking for a new leader. It’s as simple as that. I mean, you can like a guy but think he’s not good at his job, right?

Same thing about DeSantis. I’m hardly a loyalist. I just think he’d do a better job than Trump. You can think a guy would be good at a job and not offer fealty to the dude, right?

Wrong on both counts.

In other words, just a normal night posting on PT for moneyg.

Don’t focus too much. She’s done as well.

Who in their right fricking mind didn’t already know Trump was going to be the nominee?

Aw hell that was cemented in before I even hit submit on the post. The people I’m talking about, again, the oft mentioned “base,” it’s not necessary to read between the lines the vast majority of the time that “the base” is used in connection with Trump to realize that the reference is intended to describe a type of supporter who is proactively in tune and engaged in the “day to day” details of the going’s on. Much like you and me, without the crazed message board participation. It’s not necessary to be on this board to be as interested and engaged as we are.

He ran too early, alienating himself from the base he was set to inherit.

He allowed nevertrumpers to influence him, making him stale and uncompelling. We started to see him flip flop to the establishment on issues like Ukraine funding.

He let Vivek come in and run exactly the type on campaign he should have run, showing the base that others might be the answer post-Trump.

Those three alone practically fell his political star. The good news for Ron is, he kicks arse as governor and will have years to rebuild his name.

At what point does Rob just start embarrassing himself by staying in the race?

Tied with Christie now? Oof

How anyone can still be supporting his 3rd rate candidacy is a degenerate themselves

This is the type of hypocrisy that makes y’all not serious people.

Vivek flip flopped on almost every issue. And is taking positions that are diametrically opposed to positions he took three years ago. But you pretend he’s a bold, brave candidate.

frick off.

May as well vote for a Democrat. She's unquestionably uniparty and has zero interest in fighting the wrong direction America is heading. She's bought and paid for by the multinational corporations who want business as usual.
