Democratic congressmen don't want to negotiate with Trump

Some of y'all just don't get it. The incoming Congress was not elected to negotiate with Trump. They were elected to oppose him.
A few of you have said "Hey, this means the country can go to hell!" Every legislator, regardless of party, is responsible to the voters who put him in office. Not to the country at large, or to anyone else for that matter. It's always been that way.
Let's repeat that because it's an important concept. No legislator of either party who wants to get re-elected gives a flying frick about "the country". They care about people who will vote for them on election day.
This was explicitly designed into the US Constitution, it is not an accident but is a design feature.

I hate to break this to you and the rest or your Democrat friends, but you’re losing the optics battle. Your dear leader and her companions got publically called out while trying to leave the country with the govt shut down. Now for the second time, Trump has publically offered them things they claim they want in exchange for border security and an end to the govt shut down. Dems have rejected it flat out because they have zero desire to negotiate. You idiots aren’t resisting, you’re just a bunch of lazy arse no good politicians who’d rather go on vacation and soak up the taxer payer dime than have any sort of good faith negotiations. You’re too damn stupid to realize that Trump is handing you all the rope you need to hang yourselves. Eventually he’s going to bypass the Dems by using emergency funding and you’re gonna be caught holding your dicks when every bit of resisting and just being plain lazy gets used against you when you try to stop him in court.
