Query: Why aren't members of Congress held to the same levels of secrecy as rank and file members of the armed forces?

If some cocksucking airman (because let's be honest all airmen have sucked at least one cock) had leaked information about a congressperson that airman would be in "federal pound me in the arse prison." Whether he liked that circumstance or not may vary.....

I originally read that as “So tired of this media”.

Then I realized…media, mierda. Potato, potahto.

Well then she should lose any and all committee positions.

She wasn't re-elected.

She still has a committee assignment

this would be front page news if it involved a republican.

Susan Wild and other rotten Dems are in an ethical free fall

quote:

“‘You must be wary of those seeking to use their influence and their expertise to wrongful ends.”

Those words were spoken at the George Washington Law School commencement ceremony two years ago by the recently defeated Rep. Susan Wild (D-Pa.).

This week, the words took on a new meaning after Wild was accused of leaking information from the House Ethics Committee.

Wild embodies a party that is in an ethical and political free fall.

Wild was fighting to release the report of the investigation into former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.). When Gaetz decided to withdraw from Congress, the report was not released.

That is when details from the committee were leaked to the media, and the press reported that “two sources said Wild ultimately acknowledged to the panel that she had leaked information.

She thinks it was her ethical duty to leak the information for the good of the country.

While a good story is just that if you received illegal information and acted on it the MSM should be in trouble too.

So that's a "no" to freedom of speech?

Understated take.

To the left ethics are subjective and malleable to the circumstances. That worldview maintains that there is no objective truth ergo no objective moral standards save only that which can maintain power.

She wasn’t the leaker. She lost her race so they’re using her to deflect.

This. She wasn't expendable, she was already "dead". There was nothing to lose by having her leak it. She did as instructed.

And at the end of the day, was anything in that report all that damaging? He had already withdrawn from the AG appointment.

Dems are reeling. They are looking for any possible "win" no matter how small.

now what would the punishment be if you or I leaked congressional investigation testimony? That should be what happens to her

Sure this wasn't an Israeli operation?

An Israeli consulate was involved. Has the makings of a blackmail operation. Coincidentally, Susan Wild is Jewish.

That is infuriating. Thanks for sharing that.

@808, why do you believe it wasn’t her? Trying to run through scenarios of who benefits from this and it just seems an outgoing congresswoman was burning the house down on her way out as she has nothing to lose. Literally.

no one gives a damn about a freaking censure. GOP is weak as hell

Probably nothing. Do you think congress set up a harsh penalty for something one of them will almost certainly do at one time or another? Probably some nastygram from congress is all that's legally available.

Some mensa candidate mentioned "illegal" information, and there's really no such thing. The leverage for keeping secrets is done by having the people with clearances sign a non-disclosure agreement. You sign a piece of paper agreeing not to discuss ABC, you discussed ABC, now there are penalties available.

If you haven't signed one of those and you learn something classified, you can spell it out in Christmas lights on your roof. Legally you have zero obligations to safeguard that info and every right to share it. You hopefully have a lot of other ethical considerations but legally you're protected by the 1st Amendment.

Yes, that’s why they used her for the leak.

It’s not dissimilar to the Gaetz strategy.
