We don't have a functioning press.
It's obvious that the cause of the crash was gross pilot error. The rate of descent was WAY too fast leading to an extremely hard landing. I suspect that's what prompted the pilot who was holding short of the runway to take a video of the landing: "Hey Bill, Delta's coming in HOT!"
For a news agency with even modest resources, there are so many ways to have already figured out the identity of the pilots that I think there's something to cover up.
Delta's obsession with DEI MIGHT be the reason. Whatever the case, it's depressing how bad journalism is now.

The reason why I'm nervous about it is because if either one of the pilots happen to be a woman, queer, or a person of color, then the right is just going to start shouting DEl hire!" and then claim that particular pilots (or both) are 100% responsible for the crash.
This is exactly what would happen, and justifiably so. It highlights the problem of hiring people for any reason other than meritocracy.

Captain William "Whip" Whitaker Sr. was not a DEI hire. Stay on target.

Does the Coulter Rule apply to aircraft incidents?

It did in DC

Well that is the downside of openly hiring and promoting unqualified people based off demographics… if something goes wrong, that gets the blame.
Seems the proper solution is to hire or promote on merit instead, but that’s just me.

It may not matter. If the cause of the crash turns out to be a mechanical failure or wind shear the crew may have done nothing wrong.
I’ve seen the micro ADS-b data and the aircraft had a crazy change in airspeed right at the end. Not sure that’s been highlighted yet.

All of the stories you are reading they are stressing how good a job the flight crew did getting everyone off safe. I have no doubt they did but from a person that was on the flight it seems the passengers were also doing their part to get everyone off safely. At least from quotes I read.
Passenger interview Buzzfeed

The flight attendants mostly helped to usher us off, but it was the passengers who did most of the work to secure everyone around them. There were two flight attendants doing everything they could, but with 80 of us, that's a big task. We never heard from the pilot that I remember. I heard that all flight crew was okay but I never saw them. The two flight attendants were with us in the aftermath, and they looked okay.

The video clearly showed that the plane hit the ground way too hard.....IMO.
Now that could have been windshear, we will see.

Denzel saved that flight.

Why has this not been released?
Isn't it standard practice for the names of the crew to not be released until after the investigation is over?

My reference was not to DEI but the question of names and experience levels. Whip did put that bird upside down while high on cocaine and drunk on vodka. Maybe he is back flying?

That's part of what I'm talking about how bad our press is. Just watching the video, it's obvious how abnormal the approach was. Why doesn't CNN have an expert explain THAT?
We're watching the extinction of legacy media. I'm sure someone on a shoestring budget will adequately explain to us what happened.

Here’s a thought… hire based on qualifications and not race or gender

If so, why not state that to stop speculation? In the DC crash we knew the CRJ pilots' names almost immediately...and the investigation isn't over.

You have your pitchforks out because a plane crashed and everyone survived?

Nightmare fuel, that is the opposite of what I want in a pilot… a frickin’ robust social media influencer… holy hell.
