lost a lot of respect for Murray after that podcast. He came off as petulant and extremely hyperbolic.
I agree. It's almost like he is newly on Adderall or something to behave in that manner. Quick tempered, interruptive, not at all amiable.
It reminds me of the tonedeaf disaster of Malcolm Gladwells debate against Douglas Murray, only this time it was "Doug" who was rude from the get go.

It's par for the course with Murray.
Watch his debate with Malcolm gladwell or his "discussion" with Cenk on the piers Morgan show.
He was thoughtful and respectful in the Gladwell debate until provoked repeatedly and unabashedly. He was the clear clear winner in that debate on both substance and style.
In this podcast he was nearly as insufferable as "Malc" was to him in the infamous debate. Shocking turn, really.

Who decided that being Israel's lap dog should be a right wing position?
Israel can and should take care of themselves
Ha! Great question!
Is it because some on the Left showed a bit of compassion for the thousands killed in Gaza first?
Is it because the protestors for Palestine are seen as being on the "Left"?
Is it because Trump has betrayed his "non-forever war" campaign promises, and the Right has to agree with all things Trump, no matter what? (Can't be that, because even Biden was sending taxpayer billion$ as fast as we could print them)
Is it because USA has a surplus of funds and we can't decide which nation to help their expansion the most?
Or it it as simple as the nation of Israel has performed way beyond imaginable in buying the USA and our politicians so that we are their fiscal sponsors in anything that they demand? via AIPAC and donors such as Meriam Adelson
Your question is so damn valid. Maybe our resident R is always Right can point us right.

I wouldn’t say he was being contentious. More like being a huge bitch.

I've got an hour left on this but my opinion...
Douglas Murray comes across as an arse. He has good points at times but ultimately his delivery sinks him. He also shifts the goal posts throughout the interview.
The first 45 minutes was him complaining about people giving opinions on things when they aren't experts then started backing off when questioned on it.
A lot of his commentary seems theatrical

bumping this instead of starting something new.
the debate on this seems to still be ongoing, with Konstatin, Peterson, Murray still talking about it and even having entire monologues about it for two weeks afterwards.
It's very obvious that this touched a nerve for a lot of people. some of them are screaming about expert class, neocon, Zionism, legal war actions vs justified war actions, antisemitism, etc.
the one thing that i've noticed continuously is that the side that really seems to have ire at Smith do everything they can to wave away Israel being able to do anything but what they have actually done and say there was no other option.
i am acutely aware that Hamas is a pile of subhuman dicks that hide themselves amongst schools, apartments, hospitals and mosques. That doesn't mean Israel has no choice but to bomb them. What's not being said out loud is that innocent Israeli lives are worth more than innocent Palestinians.
That's what Smith is arguing and I think most people are talking past that point. I don't even like the Palestinians. I'm not a bleeding heart about the issue. Dave is. There is a reason that Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, and Jordan don't take them in. They're shitheads. They should just consider themselves defeated, give up their claim and move or integrate into Israeli society.
