Now, if people want to ask that question, how about why didn't democrats repeal the Patriot Act, change immigration and gun control laws when they had 60 votes.

This is precisely what was in my mind when I mashed out my OP.

The only time in my memory that one party actually DID have 'complete control' was Obams's first two years - >60 in the Senate is hard to achieve. And even then it takes senators who are lock-step with the prevailing part agenda. GOP never has that kind on uni-speak on any topic.

We couldnt even get 50 to take down Obamacare - which was only their because of the fluke 60 DEMs in the Sentate.

McCain can roast in hell for that.

And it is true - why didn't we at least press for the wall doing that time?? I was apoplectic the whole time that we were not pressingt the issue. I suspect they knew of the snowflake DEMs who would side with the DEMs.

But in any event - no party has "complete control' unless they have a secure 60 votes in the senate.

THe phrase grates on my nerves - and I cannot understand why any journalist would allow it to pass.

I don’t see why everyone doesn’t get this and why it isn’t mentioned. This is just Kavanaugh 2.0. The dems regardless of the obvious merits of Kavanaugh and a Border Wall are going to be against it because it’s Trump. That’s all this is....Hillary said it right away, it’s the Resistance.

They still should have passed it and forced the Dems to filibuster.

Trump's Vanity Wall wasn't an emergency until the GOP lost control of the House.

WHY is that?

We are now seeing organized massive groups traveling to the border trying to gain entrance.

Did you forget about the caravans?

Am I just not remembering correctly that Trump signed the proposal last year and said he not sign another budget if it didn't include funding for the border wall?

That’s cute.

So it’s your contention that everything not addressed immediately upon inauguration cannot ever be declared an emergency? That’s just stupid.

I agree with that - and I want a filibuster to actually be a person standing in the Senate delivering a speech - and the moment they cannot produce another one to continue the filibuster, the filibuster fails.

This business of just "declaring a filibuster because we have 41 NO votes is bullshite.

Actually it was the narrowest victory for a mid term from the party out of power in ages or (ever?) either way it wasn't an arse kicking.

Great point. Prior to the Mid-Terms, there were no caravans that I can recall the media reporting on.

Could it be that this "manufactured" crisis is the result of the Dems creating it for the Mid-Terms? I bet so.

Trump gave in the last on the government shut down and said he wasn’t going to do it again. He has tried to do things the right way but Democrats keep refusing to work with him.
