I've read it is down to about 10.5%. Not sure where I saw that number.

Maybe that was today's result, based on the numbers in the tracking ecosystem, FL Positivity Rate has been 19% for 2 weeks now.

If that is today's result, that would mark a major decline, I'm skeptical.

These numbers are so sketchy it's hard to tell anymore.

Based off of WOM, I'm seeing 18.5.

But then there is this. Who knows what to believe. Where did they get their 10.5%?

It is a perfect example of the selective quoting of numbers without any context.

Maybe they are only talking about the tests performed by the state and not private labs...who knows.

It was 17.8% today. No idea where they are pulling a 10% number from.

There is good news all around us, maybe not in the reported COVID numbers, but elsewhere life is good.

But, to answer your question, The growth rate of cases appears to be declining and the positivity rate is declining at the same time testing continues to see high volumes.

That is good news.

Meh...Tallahassee Democrat article...the tone is quite obvious.

Florida is definitely in a spike but the overall start to present positivity is around 12% just using WOM numbers. It can't last forever.

WOM has Florida at 16.8% positivity. Seems to be coming down.

That's a misconception. It's a cliche, but in reality, when it comes to airborne pathogens, it's not the heat, it's the humidity.

The particles of human breath that contain the virus travel further in low humidity, because they encounter fewer, smaller particles of water vapor. In more humid conditions, they combine with the water vapor, and eventually become to heavy to remain airborne, and gravity takes its course. They end up on the ground, far away from their usual ports of entry into other humans (the mouth, nose and eyes).

This is simple physics. Of course it doesn't explain why this supposed 'highly contagious air-borne virus' seems to be expanding its footprint in such high-humidity conditions as found in AL/GA/FL/TX in late July.

Unless it's not nearly as airborne as it has been claimed to be.

Humans are spending much more time in air conditioned environments than ever before, so the heat & humidity are playing a much smaller role in the spread of infection than ever before.

That's my guess anyway.

We should be as sterile as a place can get. It was like soup for three weeks.

Florida really should have nailed the border shut from NE visitors. We were there last week and were way outnumbered. I thought it was a convention. Looks like the solution for NY was to send it elsewhere.

Unless you are talking about hotels, most of South Florida is NY and NE. Been that way for a long time. They aren't visitors.
