Gee,I don't know.How bout productive people with a job and a 401k?
Things don't work out very well when everyone has a govt job.

The point is that the growth rate of cases isn't seeing a huge spike today. There is a backlog of tests being done so the numbers for today are not an exact number of new cases, many are several days old already in reality. In my county that I live in there was a person that was tested on Monday and the public didn't know about the positive test until 9 days later. That 9th day is when the number was put on the state list.

My office mate tested as positive last week. He was run down tired, mild with other symptoms. Work forced him to go short term disability until he was clear. Today, I ask him when he will be retested...he says they wont retest him as it will likely show positive even though he has surpassed 72 hours from last symptoms. According to a doctor, he will be cleared (without anything more than a verbal)...
Odds will be that he wont be moved from the active cases in these stats to a recovered. I think there are a lot of these scenarios going down. Mild case, not retested.

It's moronic.
There's NO frickING way we go from 3,000+ deaths to 100,000 in 2 months.
What are you guys basing this off of? We went from 60 deaths to 3k in 2 weeks. Right now we're very close to hitting 1k deaths per day. Wake up.

I’m just hoping the final data dump tonight keeps the death total under 750 and new cases under 22,000.
New U.S. cases today = 23,533 and U.S. deaths today = 709.

NYC at 5:00p today 3/31
Confirmed covid-19 cases: 41,771 (+3,684)
Total hospitalized (est.):8,549 (+808)
Deaths: 1,096 (+182)
The good: growth rate of new cases conitnues to slow down.
Reality: very close to 25% of all deaths today from COVID came from NYC.
Numbers conitnue to go up as expected but the growth of deaths, hospitalizations, and new cases are starting to slow down on a daily growth basis.
It's going to be a long time before NYC is back to normal.

Why is it not in the cards?
Because it's almost numerically impossible.
Rates of increase of deaths is slowing down and we're currently at 600 deaths a day and unless we get multiple super spreaders
at once I cannot see those rates increasing. The rates of increase of positive tests are also going down but positive tests are irrelevant compared to deaths.
Look at Germany or even look a Washington state.
There's absolutely no way reach 100,000 deaths in 30 or even 60 days.

This is the link to the COVID-19 tracker that I have shared on Google Drive. Chromdome's COVID-19 Daily Tracker
The source for the data is https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/
The source for the testing data is from https://covidtracking.com/data/
On the tracker sheet you will see tabs for the following data:
1) US Summary
2) Country Comparables: This shows you how the US stacks up vs. select other countries dealing with COVID-19
3) Logarithmic Comparisons - Shows the US vs the other countries on the tracker.
4) Covid Vs Other Outbreaks - Compares the current COVID numbers to the last 10 years of flue and H1N1
5) US Weighted Averages - Explores 7 day vs 3 day weight average trends
6) Italy Summary
7) UK Summary
8) France Summary
9) Germany Summary
10) Sweden Summary
11) World Summary
NOTE: The daily growth rate data will not be accurate until the end of the day's postings. It will change throughout the day.
NOTE: I am not tracking individual states, I don't have a reliable consistent source for that data.
NOTE: I am not a mathematician, statistics guru, scientist, sharpest tack in the box, I'm just a guy who likes to understand for myself what is happening and to share it with others. This thread was not created to debate if you should or shouldn't take this seriously, it is simply to present the numbers and foster conversation.

Daily deaths will exceed 1,000 on Thursday at this rate.
New cases will approach 30,000 then, too.

At this point we are around:
2-3 days from 1K deaths a day
6-7 days from 12K total deaths (H1N1 had 12,469 deaths according to the CDC)
9-10 days from 1M cases
12-14 days from 36K deaths (2019 Flu season had 34K estimated deaths over a full year)
15-17 days from 10K deaths a day

I keep waiting for the social distancing and stay home policies to start showing results. We’ve been doing this for over 2 weeks which is the incubation period, or so we’re told.
So far the curve AIN’T flattening.
