From June, cases are strongly correlated with tests.
Amazing.
Amazing.

I've been surprised that the mortality rate hasn't fallen below 1.5% yet.
It'll be interesting to see how much is that is dependant on the number of hospitalizations in an area. Get hospitalized in June and you get the A team of medical staff and a pulmonologist. Get hospitalized in December, you get who you get. That's got to matter.

very strongly; however, given that the formula for new cases is #Tests X Positivity Rate, then the positivity rate becomes the real determinate.

Good point and very true. That should be offset though by improvements in treatment techniques. Covid isn't as large an unknown today as it was in June.

That's fair.

More manufactured Covid stats!
By mid-year, the Covid deaths will surely be replaced by flu and pneumonia deaths.

Good to see single digit positivity percentages.

Oh, it's awesome that you're still doing this. It's wild that the cases and deaths are so much higher than they were back in March/April, yet I barely even think about Covid anymore or worry about it right now. Back then there was a lot of anxiety about it. It just seems normal now. I didn't even realize New York was relatively on the upswing, probably because I live far enough away from real population centers so it never really hit us here.
And yet, I've had actual Covid deaths impact my extended network since then. You'd think that would make things feel more grim. But it really feels like a different world than a year ago.

At this point it just is what it is. Honestly, the most frustrating thing for me at this point is the sheer volume of patients being admitted and staying admitted purely on the basis of failure to abide by guidelines from private facilities. A huge proportion of our patients are those with mild disease not requiring oxygen either being inappropriately shipped in by various types of care facilities or not being accepted back until they have multiple negative tests. And the means at our disposal to force their hand are more trouble than just dealing with it.
My disdain for long term care facilities, nursing homes, etc. has only grown over the course of this crisis.

The curtain is just being pulled back. They’re mostly abysmal.

I currently have COVID 19. I’m 40, overweight, taking meds for HBP and Cholesterol. I started with symptoms on Friday. Ran a slight fever Sunday into Monday(99.5-99.8). Other than that I have a slight headache and my sinuses feel slightly irritated. I’ve been taking 5000IU of Vitamin D3, Zinc, 1000 mg of Vitamin C, and 2 low dose aspirins every day for months now, recommended by my Dr.

quote:I still am grateful that our circumstances allowed us to pull my now 91-year-old mother-in-law out of her memory care unit and move her in with us last April. Despite the fact that she was in a brand-new and mostly well-run facility, I’m certain her quality of life there would have been abysmal had she remained (and she surely wouldn’t have lasted much longer).

Of course that also means that I’ve wiped a 91-year-old arse a lot more than most people - but I’m at peace with that

Keep us posted on how it progresses for you. Hopefully, you won't have any of the bad reactions.
