Currently in Costa Rica. This place is definitely a shithole. 3rd world infrastructure

2nd world vehicles.
A major attraction is a bridge that has crocodiles underneath it.
Nice beaches.
Average wage is $3.
Met a guy yesterday that didn’t understand what a weekend was. He worked every day.
Saw families living in dirt huts with chickens running in and out of the house.
America is the beautiful.

stayed on the west coast in November. Country is beautiful and for the most part the people there had a great outlook on life. Stayed at the westin resort all inclusive. For mrs. rouge and I it was 3 grand for a week, which to us seems like a great deal. the food there was incredible and they served top shelf with the all inclusive pass. We will def be going back. Do yourself a favor and hire a driver for a day and go explore

Plenty of non-shithole areas there - if you can't find them, you aren't doing it right. Have you been to any other Central American countries? Temper your expectations, it gets a whole lot worse.

I thought the same but he's not saying Costa Rica border's Mexico. I think he's saying Reynosa, across the Rio Grande just as a comparison.
BTW Honeymooned in Quepos and Manuel Antonio area in 2015. Absolutely loved it! Just watch eating seafood at the local small restaurants. I had the squid with Chorizo with what was supposed to be Snook and I almost died on my Honeymoon. I don't think the Snook was Snook and it tasted old but.......I learned my lesson!
