I think the gist of the article is that the word of God should guide your actions more than defending a particular political party or movement. I think that is biblically sound advice.

You probably think Love, Forgiveness, and Compassion are principles to live your life by.

You sound like the type of person who doesn't support the NRA and Chik-Fil-A, the type of person who doesn't watch Fox and Friends, the type of person who doesn't recognize that Trump was put in his position by God himself.

Daniel showed how to keep your faith and deal with authorities. Daniel was a youth when taken in by the 'opposition'.

Dr. Larry Arnn (Hillsdale College) was on the Mark Levin Show last night; brilliant and definitive conversation re this very subject.

The Authoritarian Ideology of Progressivism is contrary to the Individualist Ideology - I.e., the Constitution/Bill of Rights (God-given) and incompatible with the latter. The Idea of God, Natural Law and Individual Rights pre-empting those of the "mob rule" Collective...has to go for Progressives to accomplish their morally-based (perceived) Utopian agenda.

Bottom line.

Let the Holy Spirit teach and God's love help you show His love. Christians, having submitted to God's will and confessed their sins against God and man, being covered by the Blood of Jesus have these things.

I am not sure of the authors intent. It seems like a call to not support politics if it is in disagreement with your faith or conscience. I agree, but we as Christians, as the author mentions, must call out what is wrong in love. Even the social issues must be called out. That is the rub with the opposition. The lines they use like divisive and hateful are not true, but more hurtful to their own cause.

What does supporting or not supporting the NRA have anything to do with Christianity or Jesus?
No, I don't watch Fox and Friends.
Trump could have been put in place by God, yes, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's for our benefit. God in the past allowed kings to take power that were hostile to his people.

I read the whole thing and I didn't find much to fault. The principles they mention are true.

No, not really. He specifically said that we should be in the world, but not of it.

He said the world would hate Christians, and that Christians would be persecuted in His name.

The only problem I have with any of that is the use of the word "violently" in the first quote. I'm not sure what, if anything, she's implying by that. Otherwise, I think it's on target.

Being 100% honest I do find my religion and my politics somewhat at odds and it's something I struggle with.

this is an unhelpful generalization. i do not disagree with the policies of the republican party. they protect individual rights while not curtailing rights elsewhere. thus, i am free to protect the rights of others on my own, which is biblical. i do disagree with the actions of republicans, including trump and especially the establishment, when they act outside of the principles of the party.

i absolutely do not agree with the principles of the democrat party. they are insidious and absolutely not biblical.

quote:

It becomes distinctly un-Christian when we see those with different views as the enemy.
if i am adhering to biblical righteousness, then yes, those who disagree are the enemy. that's how truth and purity are protected.

quote:

the hateful, divisive rhetoric and name calling reveal more than a difference of political opinion in us. It reveals a failure to understand how God sees others, and their worth to him.
i agree with this statement except for divisiveness. God is not interested in being yoked with non believers. therefore, i absolutely should be divisive with those who are immoral. and btw, that IS how God sees them - the enemy.

quote:

racial reconciliation
this is one of satan's greatest weapons these days. God could not care less about "racial reconciliation." that's the beauty of the gospel, it is true regardless of your skin color, your height, your weight, your social status, your era, etc. it is for all people for all time. there is no reason to think "i need to work for whites to be reconciled to blacks." i DO need to think "i need to share the gospel with EVERYONE." that is the recognition of what is within my sphere of influence (sharing the gospel) and what is in God's sphere of influence (the social relationship of races). that misunderstanding is causing tons of christians to go astray into the social gospel.

otherwise, i agree with the article. remove the liberalism dog whistles and the principles are biblically sound.
