You agree with her article, and that's what the article says.

The Great Commission is the message of Christ to the disciples. Go to all the world. So her stunted interpretation of that is theologically incorrect and ethically questionable.
That's your opinion. She gave her opinion. My question was "What did she say that is not true?"

But serving the needy in some deadbeat town in Texas wouldn't have been "heroic." We wouldn't hear all the superlatives about Dr. Brantly's "unusual drive to help the less fortunate" or his membership in the "Gold Humanism Honor Society." Leaving his family behind in Texas to help the poor 6,000 miles away -- that's the ticket.

I guess the "Soccer Sux!" article didn't get enough clicks.

If you'd like to dance a bit, we can. She made some tremendous assumptions about Dr. Brantly without ever having a single conversation with him or even having 2nd hand quotations. She chastised Samaritan Purse's choices for how to spend their own funds. She misinterpreted the Great Commission and conflated it with other passages and then pretended her interpretation was authoritative. That's a start, but isn't all-encompassing.

quote:thanks. Thanks a whole lot. I saw that article tweeted earlier and have been trying to avoid reading it. Now I have to. I am fully expecting my blood to be boiling by the end of it.
Coulter being Coulter; bashes Dr Keith Brantley

We do not have a lack of poor people here that desperately could use help of this nature.
You forget that it's not just about helping poor people, but converting them in the process. There are more souls to convert in Africa.

It must be great to be able to judge the motives of people you never meet and determine if they are really Christians or they are really pretend Christians.
It seems to me that they talked about people like Ann Coulter in the Bible and they were called Pharisees; but what do I know.

I enjoy her as something of a guilty pleasure, but that column was gross.

I have never had a conversation with Obama. But I know he's a communist. I have never had a conversation with Justin Bieber but I know he's a prick.

So what? She didn't advocate that they be banned from making those choices. I think foundations that advocate for illegal immigration (like LaRaza) are putrid pieces of shite. But I don't advocate shutting them down.

Give me 3 examples of misinterpretation of the "Great Commission".

I've got time to dance. Let's have at it, Bass.

I get what she's trying to say, I think (that there are people in America who need help just as much as people in Africa)... Thing is, Samaritan's Purse helps them as well. Take almost any natural disaster... who's one of the first to set up a tent and start clearing rubble, passing out water/food, etc. and help rebuild... Samaritan's purse is usually in the mix.
I just don't get why she said it the way she said it... well, actually I do... she said what could have been said in a much less inflammatory manner in the most inflammatory manner possible in order to get people to read her article. Nothing more.

No her opinion was let's fix home first then go elsewhere.
Who the frick is she to opine about where private organizations and private individuals choose to do what they consider God's work? What has she ever done, in God's name or otherwise, for the benefit of anyone in this country?

Uh, have you ever heard an opinion writer on the left criticize the Tea Party? Talk Radio? Duck Dynasty? Hmmm? Is opining against organizations only OK when the left does it?

Yes, jackass. It's only okay when the left does it. Happy?

Coulter is a fricking count. This is not news to anyone.

I find it hard to respect any opinion writers for criticizing anybody for giving up their time, talents, and for doing what God is calling them to do.
