We actually elected an indian in Bobby Jindal with crushing landslides twice. South Carolina has a black senator. A black republican is no problem at all.

wow, as 2 others have already pointed out, a white female democrat was elected in 2003 with 52% v/s 48% defeating Jindal. In fact, all of central Louisiana (99.9% RED) voted for Blanco.

sure, that was 15 years ago, but you only told one part of the story.

whether you want to understand it or not, Louisiana is a very prejudice place. We grow up so separated...still to this day. Throw in racist uncles and poor education...that's what you get.

There was a time whites loved Colin Powell.

Though that didn't have anything to do with him being gifted in the melanin department.

Elbert Guillory is a black Republican that currently holds elected office in LA in rural Opallousis, a seat formerly occupied by a Democrat. So there is evidence of such!

wtf?

In Opelousas, LA the African American population makes up about 75%. It's not even 20K in total.

I don't know who that is. I'm a recovered Republican. Still hold many conservative values, but I lean left when it comes to social unrest.

I think Powell could have back in the late 80's early 90's. Condaleeza too probably 10 or so years ago. IF today someone came with a similar approach as Trumps, then absolutely they could.
