We stay at home till June and the depression we create will make the Great Depression look like a tip toe through the tulips ! And the deaths... five years from now ... if we are in the midst of a super Great Depression ... the deaths from that will make these virus deaths pale in comparison.

Only one thing pulled us out of our last Great Depression.

Hint: it wasn’t the ‘more government’ programs FDR instituted.

This is pretty dishonest considering seasonal flu is only on for about 13 weeks
Actually flu season is considered to last about 8 months.

Still, 13 weeks is longer than 1 month.

The rate of death for people with COVID-19 compared to the flu is also stark. According to the CDC, 35.5 million people likely got the flu last year. That is a death rate of only .1%.

Coronavirus has infected, at least, 742,459 people in the United States. That means it has a death rate of over 5%, which is more than 50 times the flu if its current death rate holds.

This is such asinine bullshite. 100% GUARANTEE 30 million+ Americans have already had or are in process of recovering from the Wu Flu.

Are they allowed to Assume deaths are caused by flu?
Yes, flu deaths are an estimation based on "excess deaths" over what was expected.

Hey Grim the Dim, Trump never called the virus a hoax. He called the politicizing of the virus by the Democrats a hoax. Either you are a dumbass, or dishonest. Which is it?

It's already infected millions.

Article is a joke.

Flu kills more of a wide spectrum of individuals, this mainly kills elderly and pre existing conditions
Hm, no, flu mortality by age group and by pre-existing conditions is stratified pretty similarly to covid.

It is amazing that the most deaths are in states with Democrat leaders. Could they be cooking the books? Rhetorical question.

People have seemingly stopped dying from anything else
From March 13th through April 12, New York City was expected to have 4550 deaths, roughly 146 per day.

Instead they recorded (and subject to upwards revisions) almost 18,500 deaths, almost 14,000 more than expected, fewer than 11,000 which were attributed to COVID-19 (conformed and probably combined). Which means they had 3,100 excess deaths (100 per day) that aren’t attributed to COVID-19, 68% more than expected.

The Economist is tracking excess mortality around the world, and it’s clear that far more people are dying than can he explained by official COVID-19 death totals. And that includes the fact that deaths from things like car accidents are probably way down (insurance companies are even offering rebates).

So like H1N1 (20 times more deaths globally then official case deaths indicated; 4 times as in the USA) and even the seasonal flu, when it’s all said and done we’ll find that many more people will have died from COVID -19 than the confirmed death totals showed. I suspect up to twice as many in the USA and other first world nations and up to 20-30 times every where else where they don’t have the capabilities to even test for it. It’ll probably be like 100 times in China since they’re lying.

Pretty silly to count from the very beginning, considering flu season starts every year with millions already infected.

In the worst flu season in recent history (2017-2018), it took over 6 months for flu deaths to reach a rate of 7k deaths per week, which was the max.

Covid has doubled that max rate of weekly deaths in less time.

200+ kids under age 9 died last year due to the flu, how many have died to to Covid? I believe that number is 0

Facts and statistics aren’t welcomed here.

Conspiracy theories, lack of comprehension and irrational ideas are the language of the poor trash of this board.

I applaud your effort though.

ETA: Difference is when people die of the flu, they die of the flu.

That isn’t accurate at all

quote:

Some victims may contract a second infection while already battling the flu, like pneumonia (an infection of the air sacs of the lungs), which can be severe enough to lead to organ failure and ultimately death, Dr. Salber says. The flu can be further complicated by sepsis, a life-threatening reaction to an infection that happens when bacteria have entered the bloodstream.

Other people may die from the flu because their immune systems are already compromised by another illness. “Getting the flu can exacerbate conditions like diabetes, asthma, and chronic lung disease,” Dr. Salber explains. “If someone with diabetes has mild renal failure, gets the flu, doesn’t keep up with hydration—which makes renal function worse—and can’t fight off the flu infection as well because they already have a lowered immune response, they can start to spiral out of control.
