What does that sentence even mean?

My God.
I can't say exactly what is more pathetic about this post.
Is it the fact that it has absolutely ZERO truth to it, and yet the poster used it as basis for calling someone else retarded.
Or is it the fact that this totally false post got 200+ up-votes from others who are as obviously as stupid as the poster is, or they just don't give a shite about up-voting and supporting an idiotic, totally untrue post as if it has any bearing on the truth.
--------
The COVID-19 and the common influenza cause death the exact same way.
Both are are contagious viruses that cause respiratory illness.
Both can cause lung complications such as pneumonia and, in the most severe cases, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). These are basically serious cases of severe lung failure where risk of death increases with age and severity of illness, especially with those that have pre-existing conditions.
Both can cause Sepsis, that can also cause lasting harm to the lungs and other organs. Without timely treatment, sepsis ALONE can rapidly lead to tissue damage, organ failure, and death. Without pre-existing conditions or advancements of age, although both are accessory actors.
About the only differences between both the COVID-19 and the common flu - beyond contagion spread rates and mortality rates which have been debated here since it all started - is that the flu seems to show symptoms much quicker than the COVID-19, with sickness coming on in a matter of a few days and lasting about 2 weeks, while the COVID-19 symptoms may take a bit longer to manifest, and last about a week longer (don't think the medical data on that is very accurate, as there hasn't been a lot of post-illness testing to determine just when infection ends, much less testing overall).
Also COVID-19 symptoms don't often include fever or high fever, while the flu very often includes high fever.
There's also some data that suggests that COVID-19 may not as much of a upper-respiratory illness as the flu, meaning that those ill with COVID-19 often do not experience nasal congestion, sniffing/running nose, and sneezing, while they would experience difficulties in breathing, dry coughing, vomiting, etc. All the other symptoms of the common flu. But again, the medical communities are still studying the effects of COVID-19, while they've had decades to study and learn about the influenza....
Bottom line - no one hardly EVER dies solely of the flu. And they are not dying solely of the COVID-19. These both are complication-inducing respiratory diseases - they cause complications with those infected, that mostly center around the ability to breathe effectively, and weakens the immunity systems of the infected, that often overwhelms the victim's bodies, and brings about death......

Well, for me, when there were sports, I would come to the Rant and read all the idiocy that was posted there. But then sports stopped, so out of boredom I ventured over here, and found even MORE idiocy being posted here.
Except the difference between here and the Rant, I think a lot of the postings on the Rant are meant to troll, while there are idiots here that truly believe in the idiocy that they post.
And therefore, strangely enough, that fact alone makes this forum even more entertaining for me, than the Rant ever was. I have always loved a good professional clown show.....

And that's WITH stay at home orders. So if any of your friends or co-workers try to tell you it's "just the flu", be sure to slap them in the back of the head
Yep I will NOT touch anyone for that reason you just mention! I guess you haven't been following the social distance guidelines?
I guess you must be the Grim( Reaper)?

It has gotten really bad here the past month. Any objectivity is attacked harshly. They ignore fact and data, and make up excuses for why it’s not accurate, or it’s a conspiracy.
So many things say this is nothing like the flu. But you’ll never convince anyone here.

The unreasonableness is on both sides of the argument.
Most people look at mortality rate as the most important characteristic of the virus. Yes, C-19 is not the same thing as the flu - it has its own set of challenges - but with a mortality rate likely about 0.5%, it's "flu-like" in the response that's rational to deal with it. You typically don't get that from the C-19 could kill us all crowd.

Doesn't matte one g-damned bit how bad this virus is.

How you figure? Deaths during the 2017 - 2018 flu season estimated to have 60K to 80K.

I’d be curious to see what they consider a Coronavirus death.
Someone in their 50s with no serious underlying conditions got Coronavirus and dies because of it. Ok that is concerning, and there may be a small portion who are like this.
However from what we’ve all heard the majority who die are older with underlying conditions.
Let’s say someone has congestive heart failure and doctors say he/she may not live but a couple more weeks if even than. They catch the Coronavirus and three days latter they die. Should we count that in the number? Or is that like saying man died in a car crash and he had a cold. The cold obviously killed him.
From what I’ve heard dying with the Coronavirus means a Coronavirus death. Even if the Coronavirus isn’t the primary cause of that persons death.

Haha and on the link the other dooms day America Haters were pushing the bet at 1.6 million American deaths. It isn't 5% of that.

Also before they stopped recording flu deaths in February of this year at 23,000, there were 160 pediatric deaths from flu. I don’t believe there’s that many pediatric deaths from Covid in the entire world if any.
