The Senate on Wednesday passed multi-billion dollar legislation to combat the coronavirus with a resoundingly bipartisan 90-8 vote – sending the legislation to President Trump's desk.
The spending package, which will likely not be the last government effort to confront the pandemic, includes free COVID-19 testing and money for paid leave and unemployment.

The administration and members of Congress have expressed interest in enacting further economic measures to alleviate the financial burden Americans face during the ongoing health scare.
One of the measures backed by the administration is a plan to send cash to Americans. “We are looking at sending checks to Americans immediately," Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin said on Tuesday. "And what we have heard from hardworking Americans, many companies have now shut down, whether it is bars or restaurants. Americans need cash now. And the president wants to get cash now. And I mean now in the next two weeks.
Not sure the specifics of the bill if anyone can find. I’ll attach.

Lol we wouldn’t have to sign a fricking thing if China wasn’t a shithole.

The “no” votes included Sens. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), James Lankford (R-Okla.), Mike Lee (R-Utah), Rand Paul (R-Ky.), Ben Sasse (R-Neb.), Tim Scott (R-S.C.) and Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.)
Some of Trump's biggest defenders are among the no votes.

It's the part where we're creating debt to send out virus checks.

Something weird had to be slipped in there for Blackburn, Lee, AND Paul to vote against it.
Let the digging commence.
Cocaine Mitch May have let his guard down on this one.

Let me know if the pic doesn't show and I'll host it somewhere.
It's Johnson's statement on the bill.
eta-I agree with his position. And he knew, as did the others, that their no vote would not kill the bill.

so this is not the big spending bill to give money away, right? just the initial bill for paid leave and SBA money?

Ultimately yes, this specific coronavirus situation is on China in that they hid the truth and prevented us from bracing ourselves to deal with it. However, why were we ever in such a position? Why are we so dependent on China that we must collapse our economy in order to ration our Chinese-supplied medical equipment?
Make no mistake: every single issue currently facing this country is able to be traced back to Congress utterly failing to do its job. Every single one descends directly from Congress either pandering to special interests, lacking foresight, or willingly shedding its powers to the Executive. Without fail.
