Those white boys are lucky that some POC were in their group.

If not this would have turned into a pure hate whitety thing.

This made me chuckle because it’s what I used to tell my 8 year old students when they would buck at each other or use profanity when I was a third grade teacher.

You call that feminizing them. I call it encouraging civilized and intelligent behavior. Who is holding whom to higher standards?

Look, we can go round and round with this silliness. You continue to ignore/deny traits inherent to males and females. You can go through life denying those obvious differences exist, and instead blaming men for not being more feminine "normal" in behavior. That is your choice. Tying this to the topic at hand, if a single attractive 20yr old girl walks into a random Frat House party and agrees to do what this girl did, what do you think are the general odds of a bunch of young single inebriated guys turning her down? I'll help you. The chances are slim at best.

Now then, reverse the scenario, a guy walks into a Sorority House, volunteers to do a threesome, or for the girl's to run a train on him, how many times in a thousand would the girls partake? That number will approximate zero. You would ascribe those vast gender-related behavioral differences with terms such as "animals" "uncivilized" etc. So be it. But just understand as you do, that your "norm" is based on expected declination of urges or tendencies by one group, which the other basically does not have at all. At least not at scale.

As a lighthearted analogy, if a dude walks into a Bed Bath & Beyond, you can bet with a high degree of certainty he won't make a beeline to the candle aisle and start sniffing candles. It's not because he's fighting some urge. For most men, there is simply zero desire to do that. Yet, women flock to the candle aisle sniffing away. Reliable as rain.

So I've had fun with it. A while back I was with MsNC at some store with a candle aisle. There were already two women sniffers there enjoying themselves. MsNC made the third. I asked MsNC, just loud enough for all three to hear, "I wonder how many noses have been in that candle?" They all paused, looked at me and then broke up laughing. MsNC told me to "Go look at some tools or something."

Those differences bring us back to the out-of-wedlock-baby issue. It seems there is yet another M-F difference. Females can get pregnant. I understand that maybe a controversial concept, but trust me, I'm a doctor. I know these things. We also know single parent households are among the most reliable poverty associated factors. Even disregarding M-F sexuality differences as you seem to, we have very reliable birth control mechanisms at our disposal. Given those facts, and consequences, out-of-wedlock-birth-rate is absolutely a singularly woman controlled issue. Women own it. Sorry.

Idk if that’s actually her, but something occurs to me from time to time: people who take all these Instagram-type instagram photos of themselves and post them online. The irony of those photos sometimes when your life takes a turn… :shudders:

It sounds like you’re saying self-control, consideration and thoughtfulness are traits that only women and girls are capable of possessing or demonstrating. Expecting men and boys to control their impulses or regulate their emotions is requiring them to essentially transition into women and girls, who apparently don’t have impulses or emotions or urges that need to be regulated (or who are uniquely capable of overcoming them?).

My husband and my brother are candle people

You seem willing to invoke those sex differences to explain male sexual behavior, but disregard them when women disproportionately bear the consequences of that behavior. If men have substantially stronger sexual impulses, as you’ve argued, how does responsibility for the resulting pregnancy become “singularly” the woman’s?

That's odd. Because I am saying something of the opposite. Self-control is a characteristic definitively expected of men. Perhaps a little less so in women. Emotion being an example.

If?
That is a strange conjunction to begin a sentence addressing a known.

She controls the variables, and she does so with burden as an incentive. Put differently, if a sexually active girl does not want to become pregnant, and she is responsible about it, it's a near certainty she won't get pregnant. It is a female controlled issue regardless of male behavior.

I’m genuinely confused. Why are you harping on biological differences of men and women and framing this as though men had powerful urges that women don’t possess but men are also capable of conteolling those urges?
quote:

She controls the variables,
do men have any responsibility for their genitals at all?
quote:

are we to assume every man intends to impregnate every woman he encounters and has the urge to have sex with, and that’s why he’s absolved of both controlling that urge and impregnating the woman (despite also being expected to control his urges more than women are expected to control their urges)?

The urge thing, and control of it runs both ways FWIW.

Both sexes are obviously capable of control. More so if the innate desire is lower. Less so, if heavy intoxication is a component.

quote:

do men have any responsibility for their genitals at all?
Cubs, if I have full control over a variable, regardless of the involvement of another party, outcome is my responsibility. Regardless of the associated party, what I control, I own. The outcome is mine along with the burden of a poor result.

quote:

are we to assume every man intends to impregnate every woman he encounters and has the urge to have sex with
You can assume anything you'd like about an extraneous variable. The outcome is fully in the woman's control.

I don’t believe we are slaves to our impulses. That’s why I don’t harp on those impulses. It’s the same reason I don’t harp on possession of arms, legs, hair, eyes… we all have these things so they aren’t really worth mentioning in any meaningful way imo. If you want to claim man are less capable of impulse control or emotional regulation, that’s when they would become notable. But you seem to now be arguing that men are more capable of controlling them? Or that they at least are expected to be more capable of self-control?

There isn’t an outcome with a man’s participation.

You obviously didn't read the whole post.

The point of holding up Marxism is that Marxist thinking trains people like yourself to expect a utopia. To expect something that can and will never be possible.

Do you really think there will ever be a society—or ever could be a society—in which there cannot be found a single incidence of misogyny? Or racism? Or xenophobia?

That's not remotely realistic. Human nature is what it is. Those things will always exist to some degree, because humans have to exert effort to overcome those tendencies. It's like expecting a society in which no one is rude to each other.

That doesn't mean that what I said isn't true. If you can name a time in western society when the mainstream narrative was more committed to women being awesome and men being awful, I'd like to hear when that was.

We both know that there isn't. That narrative has only gone one way since it started. Just look at your own dialogue throughout this thread. That's the mainstream academic/media/entertainment narrative.

I’m not arguing from a Marxist framework or invoking one. I’m not going to participate in some evaluative discussion about Marxism when that’s totally irrelevant. You’re just succumbing to peer pressure.
