He's milking it. At this point, he's the textbook example of a has-been clinging desperately to any shred of relevance he can get.
I know he's messed up. Whether his claims of molestation are true or not, I don't know. Only he really knows that. But I'd put his issues at least as much on his parents pimping him out for McDonald's commercials when he was 3 and HIM supporting THEM by the time he was 6. That's all kinds of fricked up.
