Having just toured Monticello 2 weeks ago, there is also monument honoring the area where slaves were buried-we were asked to be quiet and respectful of the area. There was quite a bit of info both said and displayed about how and who some of the slaves were and how they lived. Where else would these stories of history make more of an impact on the people learning about our history... (both good and bad) than at the actual sights? Just my thoughts.

PGT Beauregard is another victim of the mob who deserved to be remembered instead of torn down. Even though he was a Confederate General, he did more for the black kids of New Orleans than any black politician in the history of the city

Americans if you allow even your dead historical personalities to be fought, then you are destroying your country. You already have little history compared to the rest of the world.

The Democrats understand that. That’s why they’re doing it.
And they have damaged our sense of national identity. If you ask someone here about something awful in California or Washington, the response will be, I don’t care. Or they deserve it.
There’s no sense that they are us, and we are they.
I would like to believe that regional identities will fill the void the Democrats are creating. We will all rediscover how southern we are, for example.
I don’t know if that will happen.
