Could the pressure to make our homegrown AI "safe" also be causing it to be behind the technological curve in terms of world competitiveness?

Company uses China Ai to fend off China cyber attacks. You think its successful when in reality its embedding harmful code deeper in your system.

No, they typically lack creativity but they are very clever with emulation and sometimes improve on designs.

Much of the pressure against US AI originates in China.

If the CCP wants us to force our AI to be “safe”,

then it seems we should make it dangerous.

We wouldn’t want to go into battle with muskets when the other side is using full auto firearms would we?

So ChiCom software is better at recognizing North Korean hackers than Americans. That’s not surprising since the Chinese are racist.

The more apt analogy is:
An adversary convinces our do-gooders that our own smart weapons can be unreliable, so we trust our adversaries to provide them for us.

But to your point, no, we would not want that.

Yes. You never want to rely on foreign supply chains for vital materials and products, especially those tied to national defense.

We saw why during Covid.
