Let's start off with DACA.

At this point, I believe both sides agree (for the most part) that these "Dreamers" should be allowed to stay.

If we start at that point then how far apart can we be.

Agreements (I hope): will fix if I'm wrong

The current situation is that their arrangement was set to be temporary. That arrangement is ending very soon.

If the temporary arrangement is ending and both sides want to fix it PERMANENTLY then it's up to Congress, not the President, do put forth a bill that does that.

Here's where it gets tricky though.

What are you willing to give up to get this deal done.

Dems: will post here.

Reps: for me, it's some of the wall system as I don't really want a shore to shore wall, will post more here.

What is absolutely a non-starter for you?

Dems: will post here

Reps: the first one is chain migration for me, will post more here.

Let's see if we can show the Swamp Dwellers how this is done.

I will ask that you be civil and treat this thread as if your grandma was reading it.

frick that shite. You’re starting the basis of negotiation with a concession

It's not a concession if I think they should be able to stay.

Is your starting point that you don't want them to stay? That indeed is a completely different negotiation. All hammer.

I think everything in your post was agreed to by the committee. The only ones who disagree are the hardliners who would like to end all immigration.

You do but op said both sides agree. I’m informing you that is incorrect.

It is called enforcing the law. Anything else is grey area and pandering from one side for votes.

New policy proposal: Bama is banned from college football playoffs for the next 10 years.

Who is in agreement?

Seemingly everything wasn't agreed to or they'd all be bragging about who got the deal done regardless of the party.

What they should do is get an agreement and stand up together and praise the other side. If we are past that, as I'm afraid we may be, an alternative must be found. We've jumped the shark.

IMO we should kick out dumb/worthless citizens before kicking out productive tax paying dreamers

Um, no it isn't.

The current debate is about changing the law.

Perhaps I have misread the crowd.

I’m not unreasonable and understand that (against my beliefs) dreamers will probably stay. But the GOP shouldn’t concede that before getting a Democratic concession.

*Common ground thread starts*

"LIBERALS AREN'T INTERESTED IN DOING THIS AT ALL"

*common ground thread ends*

Bout what I expected.

Libs would scream about tearing families apart. They'd have to be the ones doing it. If so, I'm game.

That's really not part of this negotiation though.

Now I see why nothing useful gets done in DC.

I think we are on the same page.

We aren't starting from DACA has to stay. We are starting from "We, Rs, would like them to stay too".
