'Colored people' remark prompts DNC member's departure

Okay, I get it that the term is antiquated. He says that he meant to say "people of color" and it came out as "colored people". Did the guy really have to "immediately resign" over this faux pas? And let me give a big "eff you" to his wife for piling on and calling for her own husband's resignation. Bitch.

A member of the Democratic National Committee resigned Wednesday after referring to African-Americans as “colored people” during a party meeting.
John Parker, a Duval County (Fla.) Democratic state committeeman, apologized for what he described as a “hurtful” term and announced his immediate resignation.
“I understand my error perpetuates divisiveness and does not allow us an opportunity for the important types of meaningful discourse — a conversation our party must engage in sooner rather than later — that help us grow as individuals and a party protecting the dignity of all people,” he said in a statement, Politico reported.
“I take responsibility for my mistake and as such is the impetus of my decision,” he added. “I resign for the good of my Party and all those who are fighting so hard for a better world than the one we are in now.”

Multiple Democratic Party officials, including Parker’s wife, and African-American activists condemned Parker and called upon him to resign after his offensive remarks were reported.
Parker’s wife, Duval County Democratic Executive Committee Chairwoman Lisa King, said in a statement Monday that her husband should quit.
“While I know John does not have malice in his heart, and has learned from this experience, he has lost the confidence of many of us to continue to serve in his leadership positions,” she said.

National Association for the Advancement of Colored People needs to get the memo.
So do Hillary and DeBlasio.
Unless, by some incredible misunderstanding on my part, there exist different rules for different people.

The term colored people was once not seen as saying the N word.

Exactly. It's not like he called them 'dindus.'

"People of color time" just doesn't roll off the tongue the same.

English language says there’s not. I’m perplexed why “People of Color” became the “correct” term given how close it is to a fiery racial slur.

looks like he is just getting out of the way. its what someone usually does when he/she/xhe becomes a distraction that takes away from the goals of the party. the other course of action is to become the president.

It's takes liberal derangement to think there is a difference.

Yup
They change every so often.
Declare certain word to be required.
Later, declare new word required. Old word now "racist".
Rinse repeat
