I wish others would understand this isn't strictly related to trump. Desantis will also have to go through that whenever he does run and win a primary, whether it's for 2024 or 2028. Kavanaugh was basically a boy scout, and they turned him into a percieved gang rapist. Trump wanted to shore up the border and he was portrayed as literally Hitler.
Desantis is someone who has been legit fighting wokeness...so it can only be imagined what he'll be portrayed as when he does win the Republican nominee.
Unfortunately, this. DeSantis has been great on the wokeness front but he needs to come out with his plans, if allowed to, on how he will fight and push back on the deep state, weaponization of govt, and runaway spending. Problem is his Paull Ryan advisors are good with all of that.

Losing another general election probably means the democrats take permanent control of government for the distant future. I'm in my mid 30s now and I'm not convinced we will have another Republican president in my lifetime.

When Trump loses to Biden for a second time and runs again in 2028 many of these same people will say that 2028 is still Trump's turn and that DeSantis should frick off until 2032.

It's not beating DeSantis that matters more. Of course he's better than a Joe Biden. It's the fact that DeSantis would split the party if he decides to run. That blood is on him and you DeSantis sycophants can't see that or admit it. He should wait and not divide our vote right now.
We will see if DeSantis can be persuaded by his handlers, and yes he has some, or if he has the strength of character to wait one single term out.
