German coalition negotiators agree to scrap 2020 climate target

quote:

Germany's would be coalition partners have agreed to drop plans to lower carbon dioxide emissions by 40% from 1990 levels by 2020, sources familiar with negotiations said on Monday (8 January) – a potential embarrassment for Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Here's the best part:
quote:

Due to strong economic growth and higher-than-expected immigration, Germany is likely to miss its national emissions target for 2020 without any additional measures.

So taking in refugees is going to cause more global warming. Someone needs to break out the dilema meme.

Didn't Merkel give us a bunch of guff for pulling out of the Paris accord?
You can't make this shite up.

This is a political calculation.

It is absolutely insane how much higher energy prices are in europe than here. It is a liability for voters.

Why haven't they widely adopted nuclear power like the French?

Also, the EU will allow them to control their environmental and economic policy?

They actually chose the opposite.

They changed their nuke policy to scrap their emissions free nuclear plants by 2023. This phase out was sped up after the Fukushima disaster.

By 2050, the Islamic Republic of Germany will not care one bit about "climate change".

they produce massive energy with rooftop solar.

Its not like they aren't moving toward energy that's not coal.

They'll get there. They are decommissioning nukes since Japan fiasco.
