She also let him slide on bump stocks. Trump and the GOP did not want to pass a law, so he sent it to the 4th branch ... which of course got shite down recently by a court. In short, he thinks they are a bad idea and passed on actually doing something.

She was instructed to correct the record and challenge him on inaccuracies. It’s not going well. Trump is a master at this. You can call him a liar, and he is sometimes, but he’s always genuinely Trump. And in that way he’s one of the most honest politicians I’ve ever seen. If you want a productive dialogue with him, this is not the way to do it.

Good summary.
Trump has been a master of using 90% truth to make the media attempt to do a gotcha in which they confirm the vast majority of what he is saying, which they would otherwise never cover.
