This is where we have the problems. To have a real conversation, black writers, media, celebrities and community leaders have to stop with playing the victim and speak the truth for once.
The writer who I believe to be black said:
Black people make up 13% of the population. That means the black male makes 6.5% of the population.
And 6.5% is committing almost 60% of the gun violence in this country.
I do not have the charts handy, but at that rate you are more like to be killed by a young black male than any other person.
Profiling is not being racist as it is self awareness of your circumstance and self preservation.
I lock my car doors when I see young black males not because I am racist, but the stats tell me that I am more likely to have a conflict.
Until people admit this problem there will be no change.

You have hit the nail on the head with your OP.
Now with that being said, be careful about the term 'gun violence'.
The left has craftily lump all gun related deaths to 'gun violence.'
Nearly 2/3rds of all people who die from 'gun violence' is from suicide.
I think accidental deaths from hunting, cleaning guns, unintentional discharges, etc, make up another 1-2 % points as well.
Just something everyone needs to be aware of when the term 'gun violence' is used.

Imagine the tortured logic that this guy exercised to conclude that vigilante justice is bad when it’s one person (falsely or not) accused of it, but perfectly fine if a crowd engages in the exact same behavior - by for example setting Kenosha on fire and then calling it a “race protest” or demanding mob justice or lynching after a show trial the outcome of which he decides in advance.

This in a nutshell. The overwhelming majority of violent crime is committed by the criminal element of the 15+% of people identifying as Black.
Of course BLM would never address that issue as it puts them in a bad light, especially in the area of black on black violent crime.
