The CNN crew which was arrested are now playing the martyr role. They were arrested " for just doing their job."

Just doing your job does not allow you to remain in an area which the police ordered to be vacated. Press credentials do not allow you to commit civil disobedience, regardless of your intentions.

Funny how the past 2 months pretty much half of America has been prohibited by law enforcement from "doing their jobs" and they were called "selfish" for complaining about it.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the CNN crew was handing out Molotovs and matches.

Was a complete investigation completed prior to the arrest? Did they make sure they had all the evidence and crossed all the t and dotted all the I?

So does this mean this board is back to telling everyone to follow police instructions again? Because for the last few months there were no shortage of people telling others to resist stay at home orders by the police .

The Dem Governor apologized for his state police actions and they released the crew , away from the scene , after verifying who they were.

Who the hell is modding you down for this post? Media DOESN'T have an untrammeled right to go wherever they please. They never have.

I'm sure this is a coordinated political stunt.

The word “martyr” has a specific condition that has not been met.

Now, I’m not advocating that they need to meet this condition, but...

Nice try at creating a moral equivalency. The Minnesota police were getting control of a specific riot zone and clearing the area for fire fighters and investigators to access.

The enforcement of stay home orders were unevenly applied and designed to deny constitutionally protected actions of assembly, worship and speech. The cases never reached the Supreme Court, but it would be interesting to see how much latitude they would accord the government. They would need to establish a line of demarcation where otherwise prohibited government over reach becomes permissible.

This sounds an awful lot like following police orders you agree with and resist the ones you don't. What could go wrong?

The phrases Kabuki theater, kabuki dance, or kabuki play are sometimes used in political discourse to describe an event characterized more by showmanship than by content.

Rioting is not an act protected by the constitution.

in Minnesota the police were treating everyone the same ordering them to clear the riot zone.

In the other scenario the government was arbitrarily deciding when and where similar behavior and activity could occur. People could congregate in a grocery store, hardware or large retail establishment but not in churches. Presumably a preacher could hold an impromptu prayer meeting in Home Depot with 100 people gathered around him but was subject to arrest for the same thing in his own church.

Democrat governor, mayor and police chief. Nah. What would make you say that?
