Except they don't. Just where it ends up changes or doesn't change based on the vote. If you live in St. George, you would have to be absolutely retarded NOT to vote yes. Hell, I don't even live there and I realize this.

The city-parish’s authority to collect the tax revenue ceased on April 26, 2024 when the Louisiana Supreme Court determined it was reasonable for St. George to incorporate. At that time, the St. George Transition District—the city’s current taxing authority—was created.

This is not a "transfer tax" vote, this is a vote to cease this 2% sales tax from being placed back on us and lower taxes in City of SG. Just think of the economic boom if our sales tax was 2% lower than everyone else around us.

I am tired of having a 10 to 11% sales tax. We have the nation's highest sales tax.

his is not a vote to "transition" the tax, but a vote to lower sales tax in City of SG, especially if they are predicting such a high surplus based on 2%. This is our opportunity to vote for a new lower rate going forward for our new city.

This is a blatant lie.

Why does this new government want to keep taxes this high? They said it would be cheaper. Where is the money going to go? They need to come back with a 1% or .5% tax.

Why couldn't this vote have been to redirect and reduce the sales tax?

It probably doesn't. But, the first order of business is to get the money that's currently allocated to the "general budget" (which happens to be overspent within the City of BR into the new city's budget.

Remember these disinfo posts when residents of BR come crying when they realize they are going to be taxed in order to pay St. George for the money it has withheld since the incorporation.

The only way to put pressure on StG to reduce taxes is vote NO until they cut taxes. If BR is miss-spending this money, then StG can operate for less. We need a tax cut!

I'm voting YES because I support St. George.

This is a very clear decision.

You lost. Get over it.

The only way to lower taxes is to keep the parish from collecting them. Then let SG get things rolling.

Taxes can eventually be lowered once SG is established.

Come on man, if SG is receiving no sales tax revenue how can they operate? How can they cut taxes if they aren’t receiving any? They can not. You are full of it.

Don’t you just love Jeanie on ND? Almost 100% she’s on Broome’s payroll. I got put in timeout by ND when she whined to them that I was being mean to her (I no idea who even has the power to do that, but they are obviously Zukerbot level liberals). I used to think she was just a FB Karen skyscreamer, it’s more and more apparent she’s being paid.

I’ve never even thought about hitting a woman, but I’d like to bitchslap that idiot.

She is a complete loon! She’s obviously a very woke, liberal who will not ever concede that she is mistaken or wrong. She has to have the last word and will not stop if you keep responding to her. I finally muted her and a couple other wokesters.

Resorting to name calling? Do you own one of the companies StG will be using to manage services at huge profits?

StG was sold as less government, less taxes, and local control. We are getting more government, the same taxes, and a group that was not even elected.

Vote NO! And StG can come back with a tax reduction!

The entire lawsuit argument and the La Supreme Court decision was based upon SG's ability to provide vital services with the 2% sales tax revenue stream. All the opposition screamed that SG could not survive on that amount of revenue, that it would have to raise taxes to do so, now all of a sudden you and others come crawling out of the wood work with the idea that we need to cut that amount in half. At least be honest (because we all see your BS for what it is). You were opposed to SG from the beginning and now you want to choke of its revenue and starve it out before it gets up off the ground.

VOTE YES!
