That explains a lot. Decades of research has shown that corporal punishment is linked to increased aggression and behaviorial regulation difficulties. I'm sorry this happened to you.

1970 Department of Defense School in Tokyo. Sophomore. One of five called into Mr. Marshall's Office. Mr. Marshall had forgotten to order the buses for the Varsity Football Team to go to Zama to play football. We were two hours late. During our delay ...Five of us got a little creative and made a stuffed version of Mr. Marshall with old Tee Shirts and shorts from open gym lockers. Found a piece of rope and hung Mr. Marshall in effigy We forgot to take Mr. Marshall down when the buses arrived.

We won the game by the way.

Monday Morning ....five of us marched into the office. "Bend over and grab your ankles. One whack from the enforcer." (His name for the paddle)

To this day I am convinced that he took exception to the face we drew using magic markers. He was fortunate that we could not find lipstick.

Dad and Mom were waiting when I came in from practice ....."Anything exciting today?" "Other than Mr. Marshall having no arm strength?" Dad laughing replied .."Next time take the stuffed doll down."

I was never called into the office again.

Hmmm I was identifying as black alot in middle school

that was my thought also....if I had known it at the time Ida hated white devils LOL....I got my last one in the 10th grade LOL....at the hands of an educator...I won't speak of paddlings I have received since that were between consenting adults...

Do kids really still get paddled in school???? When I was kid it was so common it was a joke LOL...after the initial shock wears off they are very ineffective in instilling discipline in a child...at least they were when I was a kid. We would do shite knowing full well if caught we'd be thrown a beating....it wasn't a big deal and certainly not a deterrent...a far bigger deterrent was having an adult you looked up to disappointed in you...we would consider that before doing most things....only stopped us a few times but I don't remember being paddled ever stopping anyone from doing anything.

I think there is a lot of truth in this because most people get over the shock of violence pretty quick and can become violent themselves. I was whipped no end as a child....I am about as un-aggressive and non-violent as a person can be....I spanked my son 3 times and my daughter has never known it...and they are both good kids, typical kid shite that spanking wouldn't stop...it is much more effective to treat your kids with dignity and respect and let them know in no uncertain terms that they have disappointed you and lowered themselves in your opinion. My son would run through hell for me because he knows I respect him and he doesn't want to jeopardize that....my daughter is still pretty young but she also seeks our approval no end...that kind of discipline lasts, spankings do not because they lower YOU in the eyes of the child....I have a healthy dose of disrespect for authority figures that can be directly attributable to adult authority figures letting me know early and often that the only control they had over me was physical. I got over that fear by the time I was 8 or so....my parents realized it and would instead let me know I had disappointed them....and it worked far better....I can VIVIDLY remembering being faced with choices later in life...like driving home drunk, for instance, and choosing not to do so because I knew my mom and dad would disapprove...if it was a beating? I couldn't have cared less....even staying in school, going to college, starting a career and a family were decisions based in part on the approval of my parents...it is easy to see a kid choosing otherwise if all they knew from their parents were physical punishment. I find this to be true in managing employees...far better to be in a relationship where they are truly concerned with your approval than the fact that you can fire them.

and like violent crime they probably do something to desrve it 5 times more than white kids

Leftists want no discipline anywhere because ignorant undisciplined voters are their bread and butter.

How is it even remotely possible to have statistical evidence of this?

And even if true, maybe behavioral issues are the cause?

You don’t understand, it’s only barbaric to paddle Black children. It reminds them of slavery. It’s a hate crime.

White kids? They deserve it. They are privileged and need to be taught a lesson.

The 2 for 1! I was homeschooled. Mom would beat my arse, then Dad would belt my arse when he got home from work. Good times

The only time I can remember my Dad having to strike me was once when I was about 8...my Mom had already whupped me so much she and I both knew further beatings were meaningless...that didn't stop them but they meant less and less each time. I hated spinach...and somehow the spinach on my dinner plate disappeared. For all I knew I had eaten it. My Mom made a big deal out of my eating the spinach and who was I to spoil her joy. My bitch of sister LOL thought it very important to keep the official record of the house correct...especially as it concerned me and my other sister...and set my Mon straight in that SHE had eaten my spinach. My Mom set in on my as she and I knew she would...and as usual to no avail...when she enlisted the assistance of my father, who was watching the Braves and drinking beer and was therefore not to be disturbed unless there was blood, and lots of it, or visible flames that could not be stomped out. He and I knew he didn't want to do it but we also both knew he was going to do it LOL....and he did. He still feels bad about it 72 years later....my Mom not so much LOL. I do love some spinach now so maybe it worked, who knows? It certainly didn't hurt....but a little while.

I got paddled once. PE coach checked our report cards to paddle anyone with an 'F.' I handed him mine with all A's and one B.
Him: 'Bend over, Zach.'
Me: 'Why?'
Him: 'You got no business making a B.

I bent over and took it. Only time I ever got a compliment from a PE teacher.

I went to a fully integrated school my entire life.

There's a reason young black men get paddled more.
For once, I am in complete agreement with Ooga.

I got exactly one paddling while in school, for cursing after a nasty hit on the board drill in football practice ("frick, that hurt" after I hit a guy face-mask-first who outweighed me by 80 pounds).

Many of my Black classmates got that many paddlings every week. They deserved each and every one of them.

I was making jokes during class in 2nd grade. The teacher called me up, told me to stick out my tongue, and smacked it 3 times with a ruler. Fond memories of 1975.

I took a softball off a bad hop to the adams apple in the 5th grade and thought I was dead...I couldn't breath. My teacher, an old woman about 70, proceeded to not just paddle me but seriously slapped, punched and kicked me a couple of times...it was so bad my class mates quit laughing...that is some serious violence in 1970s that would make a bunch of 5th graders stop enjoying a rousing punishment of one of their class mates. I damn sure didn't commit any more errors in her presence. There were other adults present at the time...not a word was ever said by anyone that I knew of...

Sooooo, maybe, JUST maybe, it's their behavior and attitude that leads to bad interactions with cops????

I mean, if teachers - in MANY cases, black teachers in a black-run public school system - are seeing this type of behavior in the formative years, doesn't it stand to reason that they'll exhibit this behavior later in life as well.

I am betting those schools are also private and can make whatever rule they want. I also bet that the parents have to sign something saying the school has permission to spank a bad student.

Yeah, that old girl was surrous about softball LOL.

She would also line all of the boys up and sniff underarms if she got a whiff of underarm stank...and would pull a similar stunt on the culprit. Needless to say most of us learned a lot about personal hygiene from that experience LOL. Never did that to the girls...and they'd stink to high heaven also...there wasn't any AC in schools then and most of the windows were painted shut...after 9 AM from September until about November and again from mid April to school got out we would all smell like a mill hand after a 12 hour shift LOL.....but that old girl wasn't having ANY of it.

I just recalled she stabbed me in the back of the hand with a straight needle once. I had just read KonTiki and was FASCINATED with navigation. For a science project I built a compass...it more or less worked also...I was pretty impressed my self. I don't remember the exact design but it involved a straight needle stuck through a piece of cardboard. When She saw it on my desk she asked about and, in my hubris, misread the situation immediately, thinking she was impressed with my ingenuity. Turns out her interest stemmed more in the way of my having a straight needle in school which could obviously mean I was intent on torturing girls with it....a thought that had not passed my mind but surely may have sometime during the day. When I protested she picked it up, examined it, and proceeded to slam it needle side down into the back of my right hand...to the hilt LOL...if it weren't for the carboard backer I have little doubt I would have found myself pinned to the desk top. As it was I did something I have only read about women doing in southern literature....I "swooned"....seriously....I had an out of body experience and found myself floating at the ceiling of the classroom watching her tell me and the rest of the class what a low down walking to dog scoundrel I was for building a girl torture device....I didn't hear any of this though, floating there at the ceiling, because all I could hear was own heartbeat and a buzzing sound similar to that of cicadids but not as soothing. It was fleeting but it was memorable LOL.
