It should never have been allowed to enter our airspace. It's the size of 3 school buses - more than big enough for an EMP causing nuke, and at a good altitude for it too. It's asinine to allow this to happen. It's from the same country that not many years ago forced down an intelligence gathering plane and sent it back to us in pieces. In this case, you punch a hole in the envelope with a high energy laser and hope it does not fall too fast so we can make sense of the pieces. The chances of doing damage to a person by a falling balloon in Montana is pretty fricking low, but better to bring it down over Alaska in case it has a pressure activated detonator for an EMP nuke. We can repair the damage if it goes off over Alaska. Over the central Midwest, not so much.
