Most likely move toward Taiwan by China would be some sort of blockade and a forced reconciliation deal. China can't afford a Ukraine like war that costs 500000 men for another generation since young men are basically the retirement plan for their parents and grandparents.
This is probably a resumption of the normal pressure. They may have been holding back to resupply the Iraiains if it looked like we were getting bogged down.

Right. The difference now being that we are blowing the shite out of one of their allies and trading partners and it's mean to put pressure on China. Things are different right now.

What isn't different is China's limited military capabilities on the sea.
Tfe Pacific task force in Guam
And submarine warfare

China May Be About to Attack Taiwan
I may bang Emma Stone tonight. However, the overwhelming odds say that’s not going to happen.

The entirety of the western world.
Want to see something that could actually unite us? Let Chini make a move on that Island. Trump was smart to begin moving semiconductor and chip manufacturing back here to the US, but we're not ready yet, nor isthe rest of the world. No one other than Chini benefits if they're able to take over Taiwan, but we ALL are put at a serious disadvantage if it happens.
Now would certainly appear to be the time to do so, if Xi decided to pull the trigger. But Taiwan alone has an extremely formidable defense and strategic advantage against Chini already. On their own, Taiwan would lose, but they would inflict serious pain on China in the loss. With western assistance, Taiwan would make it an extremely trudging and protracted conflict that wouldn't favor China at all.
This topic has fascinating me for years and I've read the opinions of scholars and seen the China/Taiwan war scenario gamed out many times, and there's no scenario that China wins easily, and no scenario at all that China wins if other nations stand with Taiwan.

These are the new rules now right?

How much time have you spent in Taiwan or China in your lifetime?

We’re also talking a difference of over a billion people reliant on those reserves between the two countries. Without the ability to resupply, Xi risks losing authority as society collapses amid an inability to hold Taiwan.
If he’s even able to capture it in the first place which is very doubtful.
