Probably true, but the Chinese people’s tolerance for pain is much higher than average Americans. 30 years ago the whole country was in poverty.

Or they love him cause he is going to make it to where they keep more money in their pockets.

On this board we've already had farmers and fishermen begging for this help through populism and the country hasn't even started to feel the pain yet, just FYI

quote:No, the "chaotic" strategy and the absence of clearly outlined goals are due to 3 things:
This chaotic tariff strategy has increased the likelihood that we will have to come to the table promoting subsidies with the next spending packages.
1.Each country is different. Different products. Different levels of protectionism. Different trade imbalance.
2. What we want from each country, based on #1, is different.
3. We, the US, wants to be able to pick and choose who benefits between other trading partners. For example, if we want the UK to benefit from Russia pain regarding grain exports, then we negotiatie differently with both. We just want to be the deciding factor at the negotiating table.
So the goals vary by country. Each negotiation will be different. So there is no blanket goal. What you seek and critizize does not exist.
Instead, since they aren't quite sure what we want until the negotiations start, that brings them to the table. If we had a blanket goal, then in many cases the negotiation doesn't fit the context. If each country knew exactly what we seek from them then they could respond without negotiating by other means.
In the end, you have to sit down and negotiate first to find out exactly what your negotiating for. It is simply a tactic to get them at the table AND it is practical based on the disparity of needs/wants between the various countries.
You've simply latched on the absence of something nonexistent as a really bad thing.

You could have just summarized that with the meme's name
Art of the deal!
You keep the target vague and constantly moving, so you can never be wrong.
*Note: before you respond saying something like I didn't reply to the substance of your post, your post had the point of the language you quoted go completely over your head, and had no actual response to my comment. All that you did was repeat the "art of the deal" meme irrelevantly, so there wasn't anything of relevant substance from which to reply.

We also have some incredibly low IQ CEOs like Mary Barra who are constantly behind the eight ball, and are more likely than not going to struggle with change. Nothing's a given in this game.

Flexibility in negotiation is certainly a part of the Art.

Thats working class populism for you. People easily persuaded and dont have the fortitude to learn for themselves.
Too bad these baws dont realize we are already one of the top mfg in the world, and this money aint going to their pockets.
There are suckers born every minute, but they tend to congregate in populist circles.

How does wanting to lower taxes and decrease the prices of goods not help people keep more money in their pockets? I mean gas is already dropping which is keeping more money in my pocket.

Tariffs are NEW TAXES on the AMERICAN PUBLIC, and goods will rise in cost, not lower.
Y'all are worse than Progressives when it comes to common sense.

Tariff = tax....importer pays it.....passes on cost ....leading to increase of price of good from that country. Not hard to understand.
