President Xi Jinping announces plans to open up China's economy, including lowering tariffs for autos and enforcing the legal intellectual property of foreign firms.

Xi outlines his plans at the Boao Forum for Asia on the same day the World Trade Organization said China filed a complaint challenging President Donald Trump's tariffs on imported steel and aluminum.

CNBC

Looks like China backed down first.

You are exactly right.

Their biggest fear is his success.

How sick is that?

Tap the brakes. The remarks by President Xi are just a signal he is willing to talk. It's a long way from a "win" in a trade war.

Let's wait to see what actual actions take place before we take a victory lap.

Nah man, china can totes be trusted. Xi said they were going to be lowering tariffs to a group of chinese businessmen that have a vested interest in lower tariffs.

I'm not taking a victory lap. I'm just pointing out that the fear mongering Chamber of Commerce Cucks and globalists were wrong when they said there was no way we could win a trade war with China. There is obviously a way for us to win or China would not even be willing to talk.

Or, Xi's comments were just a head fake and the Chicoms do nothing.

Again, tap the brakes.....

Agree that China certainly assessed Obama, W, and Clinton.

I'm curious as to why you'd think they haven't assessed Trump though?

China said said, sure, come and overrun us.

In 10 generations there will be no more Mongols.

One thing you can always count on with Trump supporters is that they will only look as far as click bait and never really dig further to get details.

""President Xi's remarks do not represent a dramatic departure from existing Chinese policy, but rather a reiteration of the same themes Xi has promoted throughout his tenure atop China's policy making system," said Chaoping Zhu, global market strategist at JP Morgan Asset Management."

"....it's unclear how much, if at all, Xi's pledges Tuesday will help defuse the trade tensions between the two sides. China has already proposed new tariffs on $50 billion of US goods and threatened to retaliate further.
"This speech did not represent a major shift in Chinese policy and it is likely the US-China trade dispute will require more negotiation," said JP Morgan's Zhu."

China has it's own agenda and isn't going to roll over for Trump.
