Oil down has nothing to do with China's new tariffs & everything to do with people thinking a bit overnight realizing Chyna economy is about to get crushed & oil demand will crater ..same reason why copper is down much more today than yesterday ..their export factories are kaput
Chyna will need a war to distract the masses from its coming Depression

Once they (finally) realize that tariffs are not enough to create an unskilled middle class in 'Muh 'Merca that can graduate high school and work in a factory for 40 years and retire in a five bedroom house with two new cars in the driveway, they will turn to unions to try to make that happen.
That is absolutely the end result if we get this crappy, low paid work back. MAGA is sounding more pro-union every day.

That doesnt answer the question.

I wonder how many people in this thread actually read the article?
"The Trump administration may be playing a game of chicken with trading partners",
So who flinches first I wonder, the US or China? Americans have a very low tolerance for discomfort.
"JPMorgan late Thursday raised the odds of a recession this year to 60% from 40%".
Those odds will only go up.

That's true. What you quoted doesn't answer the question. The post you're responding to, however, DID answer the question.

US should just cut off trade with China completely. They'll cave before the US does.

while you argue we should not pay them at all, because US workers are underpaid.
Your assumption that China will stop using slave labor is flawed and belies a gross misunderstanding of China's economic policies.

I said in 2016 that Trumps populism would lead these baws into socialism.
They sound just like Bernie.

If this is what you believe, then there is no point discussing this with you. You clearly are not even willing to admit to basic facts like this obvious one: "China uses slave labor."

Stay the course. We'll be right there with you.
With the White House announcing new tariffs, the markets have become volatile, testing the resolve of even the most disciplined investor.
During uncertain times, resist the urge to deviate from your financial plan. The best- and worst-performing days of the stock market often occur in close succession, making it difficult to time when to sell or buy. Investors who have stayed the course during downturns have been able to take advantage of market recoveries and have typically come out ahead of those who moved to the sidelines.

People here will not believe any other data than those from Twitter republicans and Trump. The Bible can say tariffs are bad and they will still justify it

The average salary for Chinese factory workers (depending upon who you ask) is 1/3 to 1/4 what it is in the US, but the cost of living in China is also 74% less than the US.
Seems pretty proportionate.
Their factory workers aren't killing it or anything, but neither are ours, despite the persistent trope of the 1950s factory guy who supports his entire family on his salary and has a big house and two cars.
The average factory worker here (again, depending on who you ask) makes between $17-$24/hour.
