Child hunger in America

I keep seeing TV ads from "charities" about millions of kids that are hungry/starving. This has to be one of the longest ongoing charity grifts, right? Between free meals at school, EBT, and other government programs, I doubt very seriously there are millions of children out there who are hungry/starving.

Non-existent IMHO. Like you said, way too many government programs

As if SNAP isnt wasting enough of our money already, you should donate extra.
Like Cars For Kids and any other organization that collects used items (clothes, etc.) of course it is a grift.

I think the rub has been hunger vs starving.
Anyone can be hungry and they capitalize on that.

Kids are so hungry today childhood obesity is one of our biggest public health concerns.

Pretty much if it’s for the kids, it’s a scam. It’s almost 100% accurate, it’s the latest thing to scam taxpayers, plus Americans aren’t having kids, so who are they feeding? Somali kids?

Go to a Walmart - kids are eating and so are their parents

And you have Minnesota assholes stealing hundreds of millions that were supposed to be feeding the hungry!

Some parents suck. I have no doubt there are many with all that assistance that the parent and friends eat the snacks and the kids are hungry at home.
There were a couple of young boys in my neighborhood whose mom pretty much only fed them cereal. That's it. At least they got that though.

My thoughts exactly every time I hear those stupid commercials.

Yep. No kid is starving unless their parents are monsters who don't give a frick.
But hunger is what they bank on. Hell, I grew up poor as hell. We barely ate every day and our biggest joy at that time was affording a 5lb bag of flour. Because we knew we were gonna get a lot of homemade biscuits and gravy. But we weren't starving to death or anything like that. We had the woods by our house, there was zero chance of any of us starving to death.

I was experienced hunger today. Then I ate lunch.
I must've made it onto some kind of list.

If a child starves in America it’s an issue of child abuse. Has nothing to do with availability of food.

I read a story awhile back about some deranged liberal parents who were big on vegan lifestyle and who had been starving their children by denying them any milk and other protein.
Found it:

Found it:
quote:
Sheila O’Leary, 38, whose family followed a strict vegan diet, was convicted in June on six charges — first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse, aggravated manslaughter, child abuse and two counts of child neglect — in the death of Ezra O’Leary. Her sentencing in Lee County, Florida, had previously been postponed four times.
quote:
Her husband, Ryan Patrick O’Leary, remains in jail while awaiting trial on the same charges. Investigators said the couple told them the family ate only raw fruits and vegetables, although the toddler also was fed breast milk. The 18-month-old boy weighed 17 pounds (8 kilograms) and was the size of a 7-month-old baby when he died in September 2019, a police report said.
The Cape Coral couple had two other children, ages 3 and 5, who also were malnourished, investigators said. A fourth child had been returned to her biological father during an earlier malnutrition case in Virginia, court records show.

100% grift.
What I don't see nearly as much (or ever) are the starving kids in Africa ads from the 70's and 80's. Nor do we have massive Live Aid concerts to guilt people into emptying their pockets to 'once and for all' end hunger.
Simply will never happen. The locals just pocketed all that cash and supplies to use for their own or let it waste on the docks ( Puerto Rico ) to make a political statement.

Or sell the benefits for cash at the kwik-e-mart.

Any child going hungry in the USA is doing so because he/she is being abused. The only thing that will help that situation is to remove him/her from the abusers.
