The Wall Street Journal tweeted the news on Wednesday, writing, "Chick-fil-A is poised to become the third-biggest U.S. restaurant chain by sales, trailing only McDonald's and Starbucks."

Chick-fil-A retweeted the news, writing, "It's our pleasure."

The outlet shared a video the same day on its website, explaining how Chick-fil-A was able to rise to such meteoric levels.

Titled, "How Chick-fil-A Got Big by Keeping Its Menu Small Chick-fil-A," the video explained how the restaurant is building its business on "the strength of a simple chicken sandwich."

Most of the fast food places spend all their time trying to come up with the next cheesy-bacon-frito-fish-burger when if they would just focus on customer service, they would win.

I don’t think it’s so much the small menu but rather it’s decent quality fast food and the service is great.

The small menu keeps food costs down, letting them staff more for busy times. The secret to the service is actually having enough bodies working.

But they hate the ghays! But seriously, they're closed on Sundays and still in third place. Amazing.

Toddy on here once thought the gays boycotting would seriously hurt their business.

Do you really need to be praised and fawned over when at a fast food restaurant? I sure as hell don't. I don't need any validation when ordering a burger or fries.

Their food comes from the exact same vendors that it does for all other fast food restaurants.

Haven't seen him in a while. Wonder if he's enjoying camp?

Shouldn’t be but the left tried to make boycotting fast food chicken as a referendum on the right.

Truth be told, gays probably love a great chicken sandwich as much as straights.

Looks like those liberal boycotts are really hurting Chick-fil-A

This bears repeating. I know in my area the Chick-fil-A servers are usually pretty pleasant where in contrast many of the others will look at you like "what the frick do you want" when you approach the counter. That makes quite a difference.

I certainly prefer "How may I help you today, sir?" over "wat'choowant?"

there is one by the plant I used to work at. when I would provide lunch for plant meetings, chick-fil-a was the goto for spur of the moment. they never blinked an eye when I stood in line and ordered "45 chicken sandwiches". inside of 10 minutes I was heading back to the plant with sandwiches, chips, condiments, etc.

I will say that the particular restaurant is close to a schlitterbahn so they are used to getting a busload country rush.

The small menu helps a lot, though.

Inventory management, vendor selection, quality control, and on and on are almost always better managed with fewer products. Costs go down, freeing up resources for labor.
