Despite not agreeing with many of her previous positions that was an amazing example of an elected leader taking her responsibility extremely seriously and doing a thorough job.

She exemplified the idea of being “the adult in the room.”

I was hating on her this morning.

It was a great and one of the most important speeches of our time.

She closed the door on the left wing fricks.

Basically went point by point on any legitimate arguments against Kav citing previous decisions. Then laid into the farce. It was eloquent and well spoken and extremely professional.

You need to just YouTube it and watch it’s definitely worth it

I love hating her, but that speech should be put in high school history books for the next 50 years!

Who were the 2 seated behind Collins? From their expressions, they were hearing their world crumbling.

I thought she would be a solid NO vote with enough cover from the GOP leadership (being a social liberal in a socially liberal state) to not upset them by doing so (vs. Flake and Murkowski).

I believe it was Maggie Hassen (NH) on the left, and Debbie Stabenaw (Mi) on the right.

I could be wrong though.

One of the greatest speeches in GOP history. But, let's be honest here, she is a moderate. The problem is a moderate Republican is all we can hope for to carry the day.

The thing with Collins is that she is who she is, and doesn't pretend or angle for anything. She's principled. You may not always agree with her, but just look back over her record and you see a pretty consistent track record.

She's not running polls on every vote and waffling over decision.

Like her or not, she's consistent.

If all the Dems had that type conviction, I would be okay with them.

Like another post said though, Trump could nominate Merrick Garland, and at least have of the Dem senators would vote against him, because, well, Trump.
