Just to boil this ^^^ down.

“We can not allow America First to break the firewall. If we fail to elect a DC Establishment type as Speaker our self enrichment grift game is kaput.”

Huh?

Hasn't he been re-elected since that? Are you saying rinos read and believe fake news and it shapes their actions?

Sounds to me that gaetz is over the target here.

Yes and I said this is all he'll ever be, now.

No his reputation was tarnished enough with the scandal that wasn't to prevent any real national profile.

He's a rep and that's all he'll ever be. MAYBE he can be a Senator one day, but Congress is his ceiling.

So instead of making concessions to the Freedom Caucus, they will beg the Dems to vacate. Don't you think the Dems are going to want something in return?
So make concessions to the Dems but not to the Freedom Caucus?

If he does this it does a couple of things:

1) It makes the Freedom caucus irrelevant

2) It is the death knell of Republican leadership, etc for at least 16 years.

So both sides can revel in a pyrrhic victory. Democrats will have a blank check beginning in 2025. Congratulations......dumbfricks

There is a third option there.

With McCarthy as speaker, what is it?

They don't have the power to force anything, though.

Perhaps they should win more elections. A lot of them

This could be the saddest statement ever made by anyone in the federal government.

This caucus should be THE LARGEST. Unbelievable how many elected officials hate freedom.

McCarthy is watching the end of his career. That should tell you what’s at stake.

Sounds like McCarthy et al REALLY doesn't want to give up control of the rules committee to the freedom caucus.

Not to mention the ability to kill and omnibus bill.

Get over yourselves. The Freedom Caucus does not want just a couple of concessions. If McCarthy acceded to them, they would demand more. They want to control the agenda and I'm not sure they have a concrete agenda other than investigate the FBI and build a wall. Even if McCarthy were to outwardly embrace this even before all of this, Gaetz and Co. would demand more. He, Boebert and Roy want to be kingmakers.
