At least according to the Democrat Party bosses.

quote:

U.S. Rep. Cedric Richmond and state Sen. Cleo Fields, two of the state’s most powerful Democratic lawmakers, have endorsed a little-known candidate in the Senate election rather than Shreveport Mayor Adrian Perkins, the party’s favorite.

On endorsement ballots sent to voters, Richmond and Fields are each supporting Derrick Edwards, a Jefferson Parish-based attorney who has raised no money for the campaign.

Richmond sent his ballot to voters in New Orleans while Fields sent his to voters in Baton Rouge.

Richmond said he has friends with Edwards and his family since they were all teenagers in New Orleans. Richmond said he attended the high school football game where a severe injury turned Edwards into a quadriplegic.

quote:

The failure to endorse Perkins has prompted private grumbling by Democratic insiders.

Edwards and Perkins are among the candidates trying to unseat U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy, a doctor and Republican from Baton Rouge.

Perkins is a fool with all kinds of suspect shite going on, his first act as mayor was to award an insurance contract to a buddy.

That's not why other black elected dudes don't want to go on record as supporting him, though. (I thought is was Derrick Sheppard - nevermind, but my point still stands)

Does it matter? Cassidy will get 50% plus next week.

I also hate Richmond with a passion. I would vote for Lucifer over him if they were running against each other. Shame he has this congressional district so locked up.

I wouldn’t have been surprised if they were supporting Antione Pierce, but a little surprised they’re supporting Edwards. Granted, didn’t Edwards run for treasurer? I haven’t heard a bad word about him.

Perkins has a harvard education and a military background, but he has been a complete disaster as mayor of Shreveport plus has a mountain of DUI’s squashed in his glove compartment.

Yeah, but if he gets elected to the Senate he will come out and they'll make a movie about him.

Yes, he ran for Treasurer vs. John Schroder and some no party candidate.

When will folks get it through their thick skulls that these facts mean nothing about how one will govern and/or their political ideology. JBE is Ex. A. This shite is so frustrating.

Just slip Cleo some green and he’ll back whoever or whatever you want.

Derrick Edwards hasn't held public office before or gotten in trouble that I'm aware of.

Derrick Shepard was the former state senator that went to jail for a few years.
